You may experience some discomfort or pressure when the scientist places the transducer on your chest wall. You do not need to make any special preparations for this test.<\/p>\n<p>This test will be performed by a Cardiac Scientist. Prior to the test you will be asked to remove all clothing from the waist up and be offered a gown to wear.<\/p>\n<p>Small adhesive electrodes will be placed on your chest to monitor your heart rate. Your blood pressure will also be measured.<\/p>\n<p>To image your heart, a small probe will be pressed onto various positions around your chest. During the test you will hear loud \u201cswishing\u201d noises which represent blood flow through the heart. After the test, the images will be reviewed by a Cardiologist. A report will be written and placed in your hospital record. Your referring doctor will review the results and discuss these with you.<\/p>\n<p>During the test, it may be decided that a contrast agent is required. Contrast agents are used to improve image quality. If a contrast study is required, a small needle will be placed in your hand or arm.
