Common challenges in primary care: When to refer haematology abnormalities and hormonal treatment in breast cancer

Join us for an interesting educational evening dealing with common haematology problems and issues relating to the use of hormonal treatment in breast cancer


There will also be an opportunity to tour the oncology day unit facilities at North Lakes Health Precinct at the end of the evening.

Topic 1: Haematology – Haematology case studies and laboratory interpretation – when to refer.

Topic 2: Medical Oncology – Long term hormonal treatment for breast cancer.

6.30-7.30pm Dr Michelle Spanavello and Dr Andrea Henden – Staff Specialists in Haematology from Cancer Care Services, RBWH
7.30-8.30pm Dr Haidar Al-Saig – Staff Specialist in Oncology from Cancer Care Services, RBWH
8.30-8.45pm Tour of North Lakes facility


We will have Dr Michelle Spanavello and Dr Andrea Henden from Haematology and Dr Haidar Al-Saig from Oncology taking us through several case discussions. We will be using interactive case discussions so feel free to bring your own cases for discussion as we would like the evening to be as practical and informative as possible to general practice. Brisbane North PHN representatives will be also be available to discuss issues around referrals, the Health Provider Portal (the viewer) and Brisbane North HealthPathways.
