Metro North Hospital and Health Service is once again hosting a two day Nursing and Midwifery Conference, perfect for nurses and midwives from across Australia and the world, at all stages of your careers, whether you’re already a leader or aspire to be one.
Over the course of two days, leading presenters will cover several topics and there will be plenty of opportunities for networking with colleagues and new friends.
Nurses and midwives from all settings are encouraged to submit abstracts that relate to the conference theme of Leadership: A voice at all levels. These may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Leadership by the bedside
- Innovation in Nursing and Midwifery
- Inspiring and Aspiring: the next generation
- Journey to leadership

Dr Louise Mahler
Louise is a communication specialist and proven performer in moving individuals and groups to take positive action through a unique view, an inimitable style and deep insight in her field.
Dr Mahler is the foremost expert in psychology of face-to-face engagement. With a PHD in Business and degrees and post-graduate studies in service Management and Music, together with a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Louise combines her years in professional performance on the European opera stage to put her in a league of her own. These skills blend to bring powerful observation that elicits discernible, positive change in those with whom she work.
Matt Golinski is a highly regarded, professional chef with a passion for creating cuisine using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.
Based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Matt now enjoys working as a consulting chef to restaurants, being a regular guest chef at festivals and events and writing his popular food columns and blog. He is also an active member of the Slow Food movement and a motivational speaker.
Professor Kerryn Phelps AM
Professor Kerryn Phelps AM is one of Australia’s best-known doctors, health communicators, public health and civil rights advocates. She has been a general practitioner for over thirty years and is the found and principal clinician at her two Sydney Clinics as well as being a pioneer in the field of health communication and integrative medicine in Australia.

Attendance at this two day Forum, if relevant to the context of practice, attracts up to Twelve (12) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours of learning. CPD hours of learning can contribute to the nurse / midwife CPD requirements as per the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Continuing Professional Development.
