Glynis Schultz, Executive Director, Community and Oral Health<\/p><\/div>\n

I want to send a shout out to Aus Hmud, Belinda Sawtell, Paul Drahm and Kerri Gane who all successfully completed the Metro North Health Executive Leadership Program this week.<\/p>\n

This is no small achievement for these dedicated staff members who have given up a significant amount of time juggle work, life and education commitments to successful complete this program.<\/p>\n

The Health Executive Leadership Program has been designed to identify, develop and retain senior leaders with the ability, engagement and aspiration to progress into senior leadership roles within the Hospital and Health Service and partner organisations.<\/p>\n

\"\"The program equips senior leaders (clinical and non-clinical) with exceptional levels of leadership knowledge and skills to enable them to make a successful transition to executive roles.<\/p>\n

And, if the thoughts of our graduates are anything to go on it is an amazing program:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy ELP journey was extremely fruitful and enjoyable. The course content is rich covering important aspects of leadership including emotional intelligence, communication framework, design thinking, understanding government systems and models of funding, and strategic problem solving to assist each person to realise their individual strength profile.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt also provided me with an opportunity to develop my own individual development plan. ELP nurtures future leaders to become self-motivated values-driven leaders with a wide range of important tools that are required in these important positions of responsibility.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

– Aus Hmud<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy ELP experience was invaluable. I loved many elements of the program and have additional tools in my leadership toolkit that have guided investment in myself and my team throughout the journey.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe expert speakers and facilitators provided the opportunity for us to learn about our strengths, and to help us understand how to address self-limiting beliefs or feelings.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThat the human-skills are the most important aspects of leadership, especially the higher the position you hold. I\u2019ve made long lasting connections with many members in my group and I know that we will keep these connections and friendships going into future. I highly recommend this program.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cELP has increased my confidence personally and professionally as a leader. The amazing people, the networking opportunities and the leadership tools given throughout the program are priceless.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI would highly recommend the program to anyone regardless of their career ambitions as the content of the program can be transferable to any stage of leadership.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am extremely honoured to have taken part in the 2022 ELP along with some very highly experienced and credentialled leaders from across Queensland.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The program has further strengthened my values, skills and knowledge required to operate at an executive level and has provided new additional tools and templates for implementation.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Other leaders showed me that fundamentally we are all about people and healthcare. The thing that separated us is the way in which we deliver healthcare within our roles and responsibilities or the way in which we lead others in how care is delivered.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead referencing and applying the learnings, tools and templates to reframe them as opportunities and\/or actions.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Executive Leaders Program 2023<\/h2>\n

And, following these glowing endorsements, nominations for the Statewide Metro North Executive Leaders Program (ELP) are now open for 2023.<\/p>\n

Senior leaders with aspirations to Executive Director roles should discuss their interest in this program with their line manager and seek endorsement from their Executive Director.<\/p>\n

Nominations are open to staff across Queensland Health including Department of Health, their partners and other Hospital and Health Services. Nominations for the program will close COB Friday 20 January 2023.<\/p>\n
