Louise Oriti, Executive Director, Redcliffe Hospital<\/p><\/div>\n

Great news last Friday night, with all three of our Redcliffe Hospital finalists at the Metro North Staff Excellence Awards coming home as Highly Commended <\/em>in their award categories.<\/h4>\n

Samantha Cullen received a Highly Commended in the Excellence in Performance<\/em> category.<\/p>\n

Dr Hamish Pollock and our ICU intensivists received a Highly Commended in the Leadership <\/em>category.<\/p>\n

Our Security Team received their Highly Commended in the Excellence in Integrated Care<\/em> category (pictured).<\/p>\n

The awards are a great way to end the year and reflect the high standards of excellence across our hospital. Congratulations again to all three recipients, and all those nominated for these awards.<\/p>\n

Ward 6 East<\/h2>\n

The impact of this latest COVID wave continues to be felt across our community and here at the hospital as well.<\/p>\n

Toward the end of last week, with increasing numbers of COVID patients to care for, we stood up part of 6 East as a COVID ward. With those numbers continuing to grow over the weekend, this morning, we decided to convert the whole of 6 East to a COVID ward.<\/p>\n

I want to thank everyone involved in making these changes on Friday afternoon and again today. Changes like these are all part of our business as usua<\/em>l now, and how everyone approached them reflected that.<\/p>\n

COVID workforce impact<\/h2>\n

We’re continuing to see increasing numbers of staff with COVID.\u00a0 Our nursing workforce has been particularly impacted this week, and we owe great thanks to everyone who has been working to cover absences and support their wards and teams.<\/p>\n

It remains essential that if you are unwell, do not come to work – even if you have a negative RAT.<\/p>\n

Please wear your masks appropriately, practice good hand hygiene, and remain vigilant around physical distancing, especially in break rooms.<\/p>\n

ieMR transition update<\/h2>\n

On Monday, you may have seen a message from the Metro North Chief Digital Health Officer about the rollout of ieMR across Metro North. Implementing ieMR will be a big change for Redcliffe Hospital. We will transition from using paper records, to joining our colleagues across Queensland Health in using a digital health record.<\/p>\n

One of the first steps of this process will be the introduction of\u00a0Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) which will\u00a0replace the appointment scheduling functions of HBCIS. ESM will go live at Redcliffe Hospital in September 2023, ahead of a planned\u00a0go-live date of ieMR of May 2024.<\/p>\n

I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunity ieMR presents. Implementing ieMR will allow us to capture and analyse patient data in real time, integrate medical devices into digital workflows, and improve service delivery. This will ensure we continue providing the best possible standard of healthcare to our community.<\/p>\n

Events this week<\/h2>\n

There’s a lot happening this week.<\/p>\n

Everyone is invited to join the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group<\/em><\/strong><\/a> for their wrap-up of 2023 in the Zen Den at 10am on Thursday morning. There will be cupcakes and rock painting for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Also on Thursday, we’ll be presenting this year’s Redcliffe Hospital Medical Awards, and later at 3pm, everyone is invited to our final Staff Forum<\/em><\/strong><\/a> of the year on Teams.<\/p>\n

This Thursday and Friday afternoon, REDDY Fun & Fitness and Roar Performing Arts will be bringing us Christmas carols. Join in that fun from Noon outside the Zouki Coffee Box (near the Healing Garden) and again from 12:30pm in the Rose Garden (near the Chapel).<\/p>\n
