\"MeredithMeet Meredith Ogilvie-Brown, Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine<\/strong> and STARS Staff Council member<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n

We would like to shine the spotlight on one of our rehabilitation staff and Staff Council members. Meredith is a fantastic example of what is means to provide truly patient centred care and walking the walk with the \u2018We are STARS\u2019 behaviours.<\/p>\n

How long have you worked in the area of Rehabilitation Medicine?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have worked as a rehabilitation medicine physician since 2018 but previously worked in rehabilitation units as both a physiotherapist and junior doctor since 2004.<\/p>\n

What does a day in the role as a Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine at STARS look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The day often starts with multidisciplinary team handover and then ward rounds. I have two outpatient clinics each week including a multidisciplinary spasticity clinic where I assess patients with our physiotherapist and occupational therapist to determine the best management plan for our patients. I inject Botulinum Toxin under ultrasound guidance for both outpatients and inpatients as part of our management of spasticity.<\/p>\n

What do you find most satisfying about your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I gain a lot of job satisfaction watching people progress through their rehabilitation. To assist someone to reach their goals is very rewarding.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the thing that motivates you the most to come to work each day?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love working with all the staff at STARS and chatting with everyone in breaks!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the best piece of advice you\u2019ve been given in your career?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Always check that the patient has everything that they need before you leave the room. Spending a few moments to set them up with their call bell, tv remote and phone can make a huge difference to their comfort on that day.<\/p>\n

What stands out the most to you about working at STARS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It would be working with such dedicated staff. All the staff at STARS are always giving their best for the patients.<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I\u2019m not chasing after children, I will be out running and cycling, or baking tasty treats! I enjoy spending my holidays at the beach and have horse riding lessons on my bucket list.<\/p>\n
