Louise Oriti, Executive Director, Redcliffe Hospital<\/p><\/div>\n

Each year, Redcliffe Hospital welcomes dozens of junior doctors and graduate nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals to begin their careers in health care here with us.<\/h4>\n

A few weeks ago, we welcomed our latest cohort of medical interns, and I’d like to thank everyone who has worked hard to make them feel at home.<\/p>\n

On Monday, we’ll welcome around two dozen graduate nurses – with another cohort of nurses and midwives to start with us later this month as well. Please do what you can to make our new team members feel at home.<\/p>\n

To help everyone feel welcome, we’ll be holding our first\u00a0#IamRedcliffe\u00a0<\/strong>Thank You Staff Lunch of the year on Monday, 20 February. This staff lunch will be hotdogs – with gluten-free and vegetarian options available.<\/p>\n

Our staff lunches are one way that we say thank you to show our appreciation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clinical Council Deputy Chair<\/h2>\n

At our Staff Forum yesterday, Dr Alan Yan and I were pleased to announce Dr Monica Korecki as the new Deputy Chair of Redcliffe Hospital’s Clinical Council.<\/p>\n

Dr Korecki is our Deputy Director of the Anaesthetic Department and has worked at Redcliffe Hospital since 2007. Like many staff, Dr Korecki and her family live here on the Peninsula, and I know she is deeply committed to ensuring our local hospital provides the highest quality care possible.<\/p>\n

In congratulating Dr Korecki on her appointment, we also thank the former Deputy Chair, Dr Seema Saddi, who stepped back from the role to focus on the hospital’s Wellness Working Group.<\/p>\n

Deputy Director Obstetrics and Gynaecology<\/h2>\n

At our Staff Forum yesterday, I also announced the appointment of Dr Mamta Vyas to the newly created Deputy Director Obstetrics and Gynaecology role.\u00a0Dr Vyas has been with Redcliffe Hospital as a Staff Specialist since 2010 and has backfilled the Director Obstetrics and Gynaecology role on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n

Introducing deputy positions like this helps clinical leaders share their workloads, while also developing new leaders, and promoting business continuity.<\/p>\n

We wish Dr Vyas every success in her new role.<\/p>\n

National Apology Day Morning Tea<\/h2>\n

National Apology Day is next Monday, and we’ll be marking the occasion with a special morning tea in the Staff Courtyard. All staff are invited to join us from 10:15am.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday next week, we’re pleased to welcome Sherry Holzapfel, Executive Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, to the Staff Courtyard to yarn with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and staff interested in knowing more about our Health Equity agenda. I encourage everyone to drop by the Staff Courtyard for a yarn with Sherry next Tuesday from 8:30am to 1pm.<\/p>\n

February People & Culture Forum<\/h2>\n

Our People and Culture Forums are back for 2023. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, 22 February starting at 12:30pm. This session will focus on recruitment and selection, with Amanda and her team busting some myths and helping everyone understand how leaders can make the best hiring decisions in the current environment.<\/p>\n

#IamRedcliffe Teams of the Month<\/h2>\n

It’s not often that we get to celebrate two #IamRedcliffe\u00a0<\/strong>Teams of the Month at once, but at our Staff Forum this week, we presented the nominees and winners for both the December and January awards.<\/p>\n

The December award was won by 5 East and Food Services. The 5 East team received the award for supporting each other and providing 110% when caring for patients. Food Services received the award for making Christmas special for patients and staff with their Christmas-themed menu over the festive period.<\/p>\n

Other nominees for the December award included Karyn Hicks from Finance and Karen Roper from Medical Imaging.<\/p>\n

The January award had six nominees, including 6 West, 5 East, Kerri Wilson, and the Occupational Therapy Outpatient Team.<\/p>\n

Congratulations again to Dr David Whybrew, the\u00a0#IamRedcliffe\u00a0<\/strong>Team of the Month winner for January. Dr Whybrew received the award for modelling our Agreed Behaviours, speaking up when something isn’t right <\/strong>and bringing out the A-Game <\/strong>in the team around him.<\/p>\n

Nominations are now open <\/strong><\/a>for the February\u00a0#IamRedcliffe\u00a0<\/strong>Team of the Month.<\/p>\n

On a personal note from me<\/h2>\n

I’ve been very moved over the past week or so by everyone offering their kind words and best wishes for my move to the RBWH. I’ll get around to as much of the hospital as possible next week to say some goodbyes.<\/p>\n
