We started the week marking the 15th<\/sup> anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. I was honoured to participate in a ceremony at Caboolture Hospital where Uncle Alan Parsons provided a real insight into why continuing to commemorate the day remains so important. Alan\u2019s care at Metro North, Caboolture and Kilcoy has been compassionate and culturally safe according to his experience and he chose to present me with a pair of traditional clapsticks to say thank you. It was an unexpected and very humbling gift. Thank you, Uncle Alan.<\/h4>\n

Yesterday I held a vidcast with Jennifer Helios and Ila Stuer, the directors of Metro North\u2019s Health Excellence and Innovation (HEI) on the opportunities for Connected Community Pathways funding next financial year. This year Metro North is invited to submit three applications. CCP funding aims to provide more timely and appropriate access to care in the community, support appropriate and sustainable use of inpatient capacity, and establish or strengthen partnerships with primary care providers or across HHSs to prevent duplication improve the patient care continuum. We recently reached the milestone of our 1000th<\/sup> robot assisted orthopaedic joint surgery at The Prince Charles Hospital. Robotic assisted surgery commenced at TPCH in 2019 and we now have more than 16 surgeons credentialed for knee or hip surgeries. Well done to the orthopaedic team at TPCH for achieving this milestone.<\/p>\n

We are currently calling for expressions of interest to join two very important committees across Metro North. The Metro North Clinical Council is seeking new members to represent staff across the HHS. Information is available on the Metro North Clinical Council QHEPS<\/a> page under \u2018Resources\u2019. Application close 13 March 2023. If you have any questions, you can contact the Clinical Council Secretariat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Metro North Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is also seeking expressions of interest for HREC members and for low\/negligible risk reviewers. The HREC serves one of Australia\u2019s largest research communities, reviewing applications for research studies across the translational research continuum. HREC members play a valuable role in shaping the future of healthcare for our community and improving healthcare outcomes for all.
