Is your workplace ready for short-notice accreditation starting in July?<\/h4>\n

The National Safety Quality Health Standards (NSQHS) accreditation handbook is a great opportunity to improve your knowledge of accreditation standards in a practical way and ensure we\u2019re ready for the assessors.<\/p>\n

The book provides reflective questions under each standard for CKW staff in any clinical setting.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great guide to test your practical knowledge of the standards and how they apply in your workplace.<\/p>\n

You can find the booklet on the NSQHS website.<\/a><\/p>\n

World Delirium Day<\/h3>\n

Speaking of the Standards, World Delirium Day on Wednesday 15 March is a great opportunity to renew our focus on the care that we provide for CKW patients who experience this debilitating condition.<\/p>\n

As part of our commitment to the National Safety and Quality Standards (NSQHS) Standard 5<\/a> \u2013 comprehensive care – a multi-disciplinary working group is being set up to refresh our delirium care standard.<\/p>\n

This group will identify areas where we can provide better patient care by earlier identification of delirium, including risk factors.<\/p>\n

QASIS<\/h3>\n

Many of you would have heard of Metro North\u2019s Queensland Adult Specialist Immunisation Service (QASIS) during COVID-19, where the specialist team assisted hundreds of Queenslanders with complex medical conditions to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.<\/p>\n

Recently, the service has expanded their scope of practice to provide vaccination advice on a broad range of vaccinations, with a particular focus on those in the National Immunisation Program.<\/p>\n

The service is available to people across Queensland aged 16 and over who have previously had an adverse event following immunisation or are at risk of a significant adverse event, have an underlying complex medical condition and are unable to be vaccinated in a primary healthcare setting, and require post immunisation supervision in a hospital setting.<\/p>\n

Senior appointments<\/h3>\n

Congratulations to Sheridan Hoffman, who has been temporarily appointed as CKW Director of Service Readiness.<\/p>\n

Sheridan brings a wealth of complex project management experience and senior clinical nursing and midwifery leadership roles across Queensland Health.<\/p>\n

I look forward to working with Sheridan and the service readiness team in the coming months\u00a0as we move towards delivering the new Clinical Services Building and supporting the refurbishment of our existing Caboolture Hospital building.<\/p>\n

Congratulations also to Ros Nibbs who has been appointed to the CKW Senior People and Culture Business Partner role. Many of you will already know Ros who has been a long-standing member of the CKW HR team.<\/p>\n

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker role<\/h3>\n

The CKW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit is advertising a new Senior Health Worker role.<\/p>\n

This identified HW6 position will ensure our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and their carers receive culturally sensitive care and support.<\/p>\n

Our new Values Based Recruitment Coaches<\/h3>\n

\"NewCongratulations to our latest cohort of Values Based Recruitment Coaches who graduated recently.<\/p>\n

Values Based Recruitment (VBR) Coaches are volunteer staff trained to assist hiring managers throughout the recruitment process to help attract and select employees whose personal values and behaviours are aligned with the values of Metro North.<\/p>\n

VBR Coaches can enhance recruitment processes to ensure that we recruit the right workforce (or promote from within the workforce) not only with the right skills, knowledge and experience, but with the right values to support effective team working and excellent patient care and experience.<\/p>\n

What a compliment!<\/h3>\n

Here\u2019s a lovely compliment posted on a local Facebook group<\/a> by a former patient:<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to say a huge thank you to all the doctors and nurses working in the Outpatient Section at Caboolture Hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cMitch helped me overcome my fear before day surgery, Molly the lovely nurse with purple glasses and purple lipstick put the cannular in my hand, Tony made sure I had a dribble bib in case I dribbled whilst I was asleep. And, of course, the lovely doctor, Myat.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone was friendly and made me feel important and very, very professional especially in the operating theatre. A very interesting place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you. Gold stars to all of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally,<\/h3>\n

We\u2019re almost ready to kick off an exciting project that will enhance the care we provide for patients.<\/p>\n

Contractors will be on-site in coming weeks to install Nurse Call and Ward Call systems in Caboolture Hospital wards 2A, 3A, 4A and maternity (excluding Birth Suite).<\/p>\n

There will be some temporary changes and beds closures to enable this work to be completed as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience while these important works are underway.<\/p>\n
