A big shout out to Corporate Business Services staff across Metro North. The first Corporate Business Services awards were held this week. While our core business is to deliver care to our community, Metro North could not and would not function without you all.<\/h4>\n

You buy our goods and services, you pay our bills, you negotiate funding, and provide performance reports that help decision making. You ensure we are legally and regulatory compliant, you analyse and advise, among many other critical functions. Thank you for all that you do and congratulations to all those nominated. See the winners in Alister\u2019s message below.<\/p>\n

Jane Hancock and I attended Listening Posts at Redcliffe and Caboolture hospitals this week. Thanks to those who came along and shared your challenges, ideas and general feedback about working in Metro North. We will continue to do these every couple of months so watch out for them as they are posted.<\/p>\n

This week Metro North has been celebrating Peer Responders week. We now have peer responders right across Metro North who are trained to provide peer to peer support. You can find a local peer responder along with other staff wellbeing resources on QHEPS<\/a> and the staff wellbeing extranet<\/a>. Thank you everyone who has committed to being a peer responder and supporting colleagues. We\u2019ve also celebrated Harmony Week, with events at Caboolture and Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n

Metro North has finalised our submissions for this round of Connected Community Pathways funding from the Department of Health. Metro North is only able to submit three applications for the next round. The three we will be progressing for consideration are Bridging the gap in pain management, Heart Outreach Program for Health Equity, and Older Persons Emergency Network. Thank you to everyone who submitted a program for consideration. I\u2019ll let you know when we hear back.<\/p>\n

\"\"You might have noticed the OV Incident Response Kit icon on your desktop. The Occupational Violence Incident Response Kit is a Statewide initiative developed by the Queensland Occupational Violence Strategy Unit (QOVSU), which is hosted by Metro North.\u00a0The purpose of these kits is to provide a resource to support staff or colleagues after they\u2019ve experienced any type of occupational violence.<\/p>\n

To compliment the response kit, QOVSU also developed an Occupational Violence Employee Toolkit.\u00a0The employee toolkit is a take home resource for employees which extends on the information received from managers or peers following an incident. You can access both kits from the desktop icon on all Queensland Health computers.<\/p>\n

The QOVSU team also received some great feedback from a recent course attendee:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to express our sincerest gratitude for providing an awesome learning experience and making every attempt to ensure that all delegates who attended the two-week Maybo Trainer Certification course were looked after.<\/p>\n

The general conversations, assistance in administrative needs, efforts to ensure transport and accommodation were sorted but most of all, your time. In my opinion, your team had a positive impact on each of the delegates and we truly appreciate everything you did. Your commitment and dedication did not go unnoticed, and it was inspiring to see your team\u2019s passion for making a difference – your contributions helped us in achieving our objectives, and we are grateful for your support.\u201d<\/p>\n
