Louise O’Riordan, A\/Executive Director, Redcliffe Hospital<\/p><\/div>\n

At Redcliffe, we’re always interested in feedback from our patients and consumers.\u00a0This week, we received this message about a patient’s experience in our Emergency Department:<\/h4>\n

I just wanted to message about the fantastic service … professional, friendly and accommodating … amazing clinical judgement and organised scans very quickly. Wanted to shout out huge thanks to [them]\u00a0the plaster tech, the friendly people behind the front desk, and the lovely lady offering teas and blankets…\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The feedback provided by this patient reflects their journey through our Emergency Department. It tells us that not only did they have confidence in our care, but that the small things are remembered and matter.<\/p>\n

Thank you to the team who cared for this patient for bringing their A-game and inspiring others to do the same.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Have Your Say Staff Survey update<\/h3>\n

The Have Your Say Staff Survey <\/strong>will be run again this May.<\/p>\n

\"HaveThis will be the third time we’ve run the Have Your Say Staff Survey<\/a>, which gives all staff the opportunity to share their experience of what it’s like to work at Redcliffe and for Metro North. It’s also one of the best ways that you can suggest improvements on how we can make things better for everyone.<\/p>\n

In the last survey, you told us that we needed to improve staff break areas and change facilities. Metro North listened and invested\u00a0$165,000 into upgrades of these areas. The biggest of those projects has been the upgrade to the operating theatre change rooms on Level 2.\u00a0 Those works will be complete by the end of this month.<\/p>\n

Last time, we had around 45% of staff participating in the survey. This year, I’m confident that we can beat our target of 50% participation.<\/p>\n

Short Notice Accreditation<\/h3>\n

\"NSQHSShort notice accreditation assessment is coming from 1 July this year. To hear more about how Metro North is preparing, there’s a special VIDCAST next Thursday at 10:30am with the Chief Executive, Jackie Hanson, and Metro North’s Executive Director of Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk, Michele Gardner.<\/p>\n

Metro North Staff Expo and Listening Post<\/h3>\n

\"MetroThe Metro North Staff Expo at Redcliffe last Monday was a great success.<\/p>\n

The Expo provided staff the opportunity to chat with salary packaging, financial services and superannuation providers<\/p>\n

Thanks again to all who made the time come along.<\/p>\n

Among the exhibitors was our own Barb Williams, promoting\u00a0DonateLife<\/a>\u00a0and helping everyone understand more about organ and tissue donation.<\/p>\n

Thanks also to our\u00a0Metro North Values in Action<\/a> team and to Louise Dallura, who was at the Expo answering questions about the graduate program in Health Services Innovation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also on Monday, we had our Chief Executive, Jackie Hanson and Chief Operating Officer, Jane Hancock with us for a Listening Post.<\/p>\n

Thanks to everyone who took the time to chat with the CE and COO and to share ideas on how to make Redcliffe a truly great place to work.<\/p>\n

\"Nursing<\/a>New nursing and midwifery scrubs<\/h3>\n

Our nurses and midwives can now show their commitment to Health Equity with new scrubs featuring our unique Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork.<\/p>\n

These scrubs are only available to Redcliffe Hospital nurses and midwives, with another design available for other staff featuring Metro North’s Better Together artwork.\u00a0Find out more about these scrubs and how to order.<\/a><\/p>\n

Making your clinical work count<\/h3>\n

At our Staff Forum this week, we heard from Health Information Services on how important it is for all of our clinical work to be captured and recorded in the right information systems.<\/p>\n

Activity based funding relies on us being able to provide an accurate record of the number of healthcare services (activities) each patient receives. That activity is directly linked to the level of funding allocated to hospitals and health services each year.<\/p>\n

If you’d like to check to make sure that your team is making everything count, including things like emails and clinical phone calls – talk to Gemma Van Fleet<\/a> on 3883 7295.<\/p>\n

Recording things correctly is essential for patient safety. Getting this right also makes sure we’re providing the full picture of our clinical activity each year.<\/p>\n
