On 15 March, RBWH recognised World Delirium Awareness Day to drive awareness and education around the most common hospital acquired complication.<\/h4>\n

The theme for this year was \u201cDelirium is everyone\u2019s business\u201d, which aimed to highlight that managing and preventing delirium requires the skills of the entire team.<\/p>\n

The Eat Walk Engage team held a competition where teams were encouraged to create a delirium awareness display in their ward. The team were impressed by the efforts staff had gone to drive awareness of this important issue.<\/p>\n

Eat Walk Engage Clinical Lead Professor Alison Mudge judged 13 delirium displays through RBWH alongside consumers and passionate delirium advocates Marnie and Marcia Phillips.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur joint first prize went to wards 9AS and 7AN, who has carefully crafted messages that were very accessible to patients and families as well as staff,\u201d Professor Mudge said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonourable mentions for creativity go to 6AS\u2019s artwork, 4C\u2019s angel wings, ICU\u2019s baked goods, as well as 8AN for including patient quotes that remind us how terrifying delirium can be.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all RBWH staff to keep working together to recognise, prevent and care for delirium\u2014it touches us all and we all have an important role to play.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>
