Louise Oriti, Executive Director<\/p><\/div>\n

In addition to today being Administrative Professionals Day, it is also International Day of the Midwife. International Day of the Midwife is a day to recognise the important role of midwives in bringing new life into the world and celebrate the family-centred care which has become such a vital part of their practice. Our midwives create a safe space for women and their families to be genuine partners in their care and improve the healthcare experience. Thank you to all our amazing midwives for their contribution.<\/h4>\n

Executive Priorities<\/h3>\n

Over the past few months,\u00a0the RBWH Executive Leadership team have been working\u00a0on key priorities for the future. We have been spending time assessing our current systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement and agreeing on the best ways to advance care. Once we have finalised these priorities, I will communicate these with you in my executive messages.<\/p>\n

RBWH Managers Forum<\/h3>\n

From mid-May, I will be hosting a new RBWH Managers Forum alongside\u00a0other senior colleagues. The Managers Forum is for senior leaders in the organisation and will be an opportunity to communicate key organisational priorities and initiatives, as well as a space to ask questions and soundboard new ideas. Calendar invitations for the Teams event will be sent to relevant staff in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Flu Vaccination<\/h3>\n

As we head into the colder months, it is important for us all to stay safe from the flu, not only for our own health but for the health of our patients and families. The RBWH Staff Flu Vaccination Program provides free flu vaccinations to staff working onsite at RBWH. The program commenced last week and will run until Friday 12 May on the Level 2 Walkway, James Mayne Building. Please check\u00a0QHEPS<\/a>\u00a0for details of opening hours and help RBWH \u2018give the flu the flick!<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Cancer Care feedback<\/h3>\n

Today, I wanted to share some touching feedback we received this week for Ward 6A. I know there are many similar examples of compassionate, patient-centred care demonstrated throughout the hospital every day.<\/p>\n

On behalf of my family, I wanted to properly thank all the nursing staff and doctors who looked after my nanna on ward 6A. She was treated with dignity and respect, which was a huge thing for her. She commented on how kind everyone was and that nothing was too hard. The promptness of pain relief, the welcoming nature of the ward by opening up the meeting room and by bringing us blankets, pillows and food, really went above and beyond. (The staff were) always checking on us and were really there for us. When my son said his goodbyes, one nurse brought him over a box of tissues. My nanna even said, the attention I have been given is amazing and the nurses all have beautiful hearts and kind hands. The compassion and kindness that was shown to us made me proud to be an oncology nurse.<\/em><\/p>\n

On a personal note, this week I attended the Metro North Workforce Reform Summit alongside the professional leads. It was a valuable event and you will receive further information on the outcomes from the Metro North People and Culture team. The recognition of Administrative Professional Day was well celebrated today with a healthy competition and cake. Many thanks to the staff who continue to advise and support my transition to RBWH.<\/p>\n
