--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 450\/300;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14901\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emergency department upgrade<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<h4>The emergency department upgrade and new paediatric section will become operational on Wednesday, 21 June.<\/h4>\n<p>That upgrade has provided\u00a012 new treatment spaces with a new\u00a0paediatric emergency department section that offers patients and families a separate waiting room, triage, and treatment area.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian Government funded the $10 million upgrade, which includes new facilities for hospital staff working in the emergency department.<\/p>\n<p>Before the new areas become operational, we&#8217;re inviting all hospital staff to tour the new facilities, talk to emergency department staff, and see how it will all work.<\/p>\n<p>There are three tour sessions available.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesday, 14 June, from 2:30pm to 4pm,<\/li>\n<li>Thursday, 15 June, from 2pm to 4pm, and<\/li>\n<li>Friday, 16 June, from 2pm to 4pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These times should be in everyone&#8217;s Outlook calendars.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no need to RSVP for the tours, just gather outside the Emergency Department on the new round seats.<\/p>\n<p>A reminder too, surgical masks are strongly recommended for all staff entering the emergency department.<\/p>\n<h3>Accreditation preparation update<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-fusion-400 wp-image-14056 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"Metro North Health kind, safe and inclusive shareable\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive-225x150.jpg 225w, https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/04\/mnh-kind-safe-inclusive.jpg 600w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 400px; When it does, we&#8217;ll have 24 hours&#8217; notice of accreditors arriving.<\/p>\n<p>Assessors will spend 80% of their time in clinical areas talking to nurses, doctors and hospital staff about how they do their work.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Senior Leadership Team members participated in an exercise where we visited wards and clinical areas to run people through the kind of questions assessors will ask.<\/p>\n<p>It was a worthwhile exercise for all involved.<\/p>\n<p>One standout was that too many areas still rely on folders of printed policies and procedures &#8211; instead of accessing these online. If you need help accessing procedures and guidelines for your work area online or on QHEPS, talk to your line manager.<\/p>\n<p>To help us prepare further, next Tuesday and Wednesday, we&#8217;ll have Safety &amp; Quality colleagues from across Metro North Health at Redcliffe talking to staff and testing our readiness for accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who got involved in our big clean-up day on Tuesday.
