Staff BBQ<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

Our #IamRedcliffe <\/em><\/strong>Staff BBQ was a great way to start the week.\u00a0Thanks again to our Facility Services and operational teams for arranging the BBQ – and to QSuper for sponsoring the event.<\/h4>\n

While waiting in line, I know many staff also took the opportunity to talk to representatives from QSuper about things like retirement planning and changes to superannuation this year.<\/p>\n

Our next #IamRedcliffe<\/em><\/strong> Staff Lunch is planned for Tuesday 15 August.<\/p>\n

Emergency Department Upgrade<\/h3>\n

The new paediatric section in the Emergency Department will become operational next Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

All of the temporary fencing and barriers outside the Emergency Department have now been removed, and patients and visitors can now use the new drop-off and temporary parking zone.<\/p>\n

We offered staff the opportunity to walk through the new facilities this week, with three tour sessions. \u00a0For those who couldn’t make it, here are a few photos of the new section.<\/p>\n

\"MakingMaking it count – tip of the week<\/h3>\n

There’s never been a more important time to ensure we document our care correctly and make all our clinical work count.<\/p>\n

Here’s this week’s tip from\u00a0Health Information Services.<\/p>\n

Use a more specific diagnosis when documenting wound erythema\/wound collection.\u00a0If patient has infection\/cellulitis\/abscess etc, use these terms.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Redcliffe<\/a>Length of Service Awards – next Thursday<\/h3>\n

We’ll be celebrating the long and dedicated service of hospital staff at our Length of Service Awards next Thursday.<\/p>\n

Everyone is invited to attend these awards in the Education Centre from 10am – and for those who can’t make it, they’ll also be broadcast for everyone to watch on Teams.<\/p>\n

Awards are presented in five-year increments, starting from 10 years. We’ll also be publishing the full list of award recipients on the Length of Service QHEPS page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dr Graeme Jackson<\/h3>\n

Redcliffe Hospital’s Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Graeme Jackson, has announced that he’ll soon be retiring from the hospital.<\/p>\n

Dr Jackson began his medical career as a first-year resident at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1980. In 1998, he joined Redcliffe Hospital as the District Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Jackson also served as the chair of Redcliffe Hospital’s Clinical Council for five years.<\/p>\n

Over his 35-year career as a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Jackson has cared for thousands of women and babies. Through his leadership, he’s also improved and expanded the scope of surgical services for women at Redcliffe Hospital.<\/p>\n

To celebrate Dr Jackson’s career of service to the hospital and our community, all staff are invited to a farewell afternoon tea next Monday afternoon. The event should be in everyone’s Outlook calendar. I hope you can make it along.<\/p>\n
