Ward 3C opened its doors with our new Palliative Care Unit and Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit.<\/h4>\n<p>19 patients were successfully moved into 3C by 3 pm today, and we have already seen the positive impact this has had on patient flow in the hospital with more beds now available for our community. The new ward also gives us the ability to allocate patients into the best service for their care.<\/p>\n<p>The overall goal of the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment was to be able to provide new, specialist services to our community so that they can stay close to home instead of having to travel further away to receive care. Today we achieved that goal when we welcomed a palliative care patient from Redcliffe Hospital. This patient is a Caboolture resident and is now able to receive compassionate care close to home in our new Palliative Care Unit.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m very proud of how everyone pulled together today and lived our Metro North values. As the saying goes, \u2018it takes a village\u2019, and today our village rose to the occasion. The new staff in 3C were phenomenal and responsive to complicated patients. We had nursing staff step in at short notice to provide extra support to the 3C team. The operational support officers and transfer nurses did a fantastic job moving patients across the hospital. Our cleaning teams went in behind the patients that had moved to speedily clean the beds, which allowed us to clear the Emergency Department. And the Command Centre had excellent oversight and collaboration across all parts of the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Today was a great first move in preparation for the significant moves coming next week and gave us the opportunity to hone our move arrangements. Thank you to everyone for your team spirit and camaraderie to make everything work.
