Today is a momentous day for Caboolture Hospital. We opened our new Clinical Services Building (CSB) to the public, with Central Admissions and Level 1 public areas now open to patients and visitors. Our first patients will move into Level 3 on Wednesday, with our new Palliative Care Unit and Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit opening in Ward 3C. Clinical services will ramp up over the next two weeks. This is a really exciting time as we now get to fully realise everything we\u2019ve been planning for and working towards for the last few years.<\/h4>\n

For those of you who have seen the hoarding at the front of the site and wondered how patients and visitors access the CSB, the central linkway will be the entry point for several weeks. The central linkway is next to the old security office and opposite the old reception \u2013 you won\u2019t miss it when you walk past! The main entry to the CSB will open \u2013 and the current Main Entry \/ Emergency Entry will close \u2013 on the day that the new Emergency Department opens.<\/p>\n

Support for staff<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s going to be a very busy couple of weeks for CKW as services move into the CSB and new wards open. I don\u2019t think any of us underestimate the amount of work that has gone into this, and it\u2019s really important that we look after ourselves and each other.<\/p>\n

For the teams that are moving into the CSB, please make sure you have reviewed your move plans, move checklists and hyper care videos. All the information you need is located on the CHRP Channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CKW Staff Psychologist and Peer Responder Coordinator Scott Natho will also be available to support staff during the move process. Scott will be available for any staff that want to have a chat on 0459 092 485. TELUS Health is also available for staff that might want support outside of business hours \u2013 visit QHEPS<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n

To ensure the opening sequence goes as smoothly as possible, a Command Centre will be stood up and run by Dr Elizabeth Rushbrook, Metro North\u2019s Chief Medical Officer. Please make her feel welcome if you see her around the hospital.<\/p>\n

This is a huge milestone for Caboolture Hospital, and you should all be proud of the work you have done to date to get ready.<\/p>\n
