I hope that you got a good relaxing break if you had the chance to over December and January.<\/h4>\n<p>In our well-loved \u201cWinnie the Pooh\u201d book there\u2019s a conversation between Pooh and Piglet that goes like this:\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u201cWhat day is it?\u201d asked Pooh<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u201cIt\u2019s today\u201d squeaked Piglet<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\u201cMy favourite day\u201d said Pooh\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>What a delightfully simple but profound message for each of us to focus on today, to embrace the present moment and to find joy in the small things.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>With that in mind, I expect 2024 to be a very rewarding year for the whole directorate.<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-18774 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/01\/karen-ingrid-robyn.jpg\" alt=\"thank our volunteers\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/01\/karen-ingrid-robyn-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/01\/karen-ingrid-robyn.jpg 200w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 200\/300;\" \/>Something we missed<\/h3>\n<p>Last year, I had the pleasure of attending an event to personally thank our volunteers who were given such a wonderful acknowledgement by the accreditors from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>In addition, I wanted to share Ingrid&#8217;s feedback from Gannet House, which really exemplifies the important role our volunteers play across our service lines.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><i>&#8220;I\u00a0love having volunteers come and see me.\u00a0 They always treat me well.\u00a0 They always ask what I would like to do, and they can help me with anything.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>&#8220;I am happy to go outside by myself but it is also nice to have volunteer company as well.\u00a0 I don\u2019t like to sit in my room all day.\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>&#8220;I like to get out and about and I always enjoy the activities I am involved in with both the staff and volunteers.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; background-color: #e7e6e6;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%; padding-left: 40px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-right: 40px;\">\n<h3>Compliment &#8211; Chermside Community Health Centre<\/h3>\n<p>Another great compliment about our community-based services to start off the year.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><i>&#8220;Ian (physiotherapist) and Mark (nurse) were exemplary in their professionalism and instructive support.
