I hope you\u2019re all starting to get into the swing of the New Year. We have a lot of exciting things on the horizon at Metro North Health for 2024 including some big infrastructure projects to expand our facilities, and some great new initiatives for patients.<\/h4>\n

Board Chair Jim McGowan and myself will be chatting all about this during our Vidcast next week at 11am on Wednesday 17th Jan, be sure to tune in!<\/p>\n

Welcome Moji<\/h3>\n

This week I welcome my new ESO, Mojgan Sadrizadeh. If you reach out to me, you may hear from Moji, so please be sure to provide her a warm welcome to the Metro North team.<\/p>\n

Focus on harmony and equity<\/h3>\n

One of my focus areas for the coming year is on \u2018harmony.\u2019 Harmony Day is held annually on the 21st of March, and I\u2019d like to carry the Harmony theme through. Metro North will be scheduling regular diversity days throughout the year, where we make anti-racism, inclusion, respect, and equity continued key priorities at Metro North Health. I encourage each of you to consider how you can speak up if you experience or observe racism, be more inclusive, respectful, and equitable in the workplace, and what you can do to make a difference.<\/p>\n

We have many examples of how we are improving health equity here at Metro North Health, and a great one is the Deadly Feet program. This successful initiative is improving foot health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, and it recently got a shout out on the Queensland Health newsroom. You can have a read of the story<\/a>, and congrats to the team at Deadly Feet for your commitment to improving health outcomes for these patients.<\/p>\n

Celebrating our values<\/h3>\n

Last year I placed themed ‘messages in a bottle’ from the Have Your Say survey in my weekly message, and this year I will be focusing on calling out someone I have come across in my movements around our services who lives our values. Stay tuned for this.<\/p>\n

COVID-19 reminder<\/h3>\n

Lastly, as more of us return from holidays and our work areas grow even busier, I\u2019d like to remind you of the current COVID-19 resurgence in Brisbane. We have a large number of patients in our care, so it\u2019s important you continue your social distancing, hand hygiene and be sure to stay up to date with your vaccinations.<\/p>\n
