Louise Oriti, Executive Director<\/p><\/div>\n

I hope you\u2019ve all had a chance to reflect on our successful ACHS Short Notice Assessment last week and congratulate yourselves and each other. I know many teams have been intensely preparing for accreditation for over a year and these efforts were evident to the assessors. For those of you who were unable to attend the Summation last Friday, the lead assessor commenced her address to staff by saying \u2018wow, wow, wow\u2019 \u2013 a clear reflection of the ACHS team\u2019s positive experience at RBWH.<\/h4>\n

RBWH Executive received feedback from the assessors which I wanted to share with you today. Our key takeaway is to be<\/em> ready everyday, <\/em>and to keep the high energy and hard work that got us to this great position going well into the future.<\/p>\n

What we did well<\/h3>\n

The assessors identified many positive attributes throughout their visit to RBWH. Some highlights included:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Our positive staff culture.<\/li>\n
  • Constructive and welcoming engagement with the assessors.<\/li>\n
  • No restrictions around where the accreditation team could and couldn\u2019t visit.<\/li>\n
  • Good governance, with staff feeling safe to escalate concerns to Executive.<\/li>\n
  • Good management of high-risk situations.<\/li>\n
  • Successful Incident Management Team response as we dealt with the internet and system outages last week.<\/li>\n
  • Comprehensive handovers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Some Metro North areas were also included in our Short Notice Assessment, including the Herston Biofabrication Institute, Clinical Skills Development Service, Virtual ED, Virtual Ward and the Public Health Unit. The assessors were very impressed with these areas too.<\/p>\n

    Focus areas for the future<\/h3>\n

    The assessors also identified some areas for improvement, which we will be shifting our focus towards as a priority, including:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Embedding the standards into The Brisbane City Watchhouse.<\/li>\n
    • Improving and progressing our infrastructure.<\/li>\n
    • Identifying better solutions for storage of stock. We will be working on an organisational-wide solution for this.<\/li>\n
    • Medication safety and the development of an organisational approach.<\/li>\n
    • Cleanliness in storerooms, meeting rooms, etc.<\/li>\n
    • Compliance with mandatory and requisite training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Congratulations again to all of Team Royal for your amazing efforts.<\/p>\n

      Positive feedback<\/h3>\n

      Today, I wanted to share some positive feedback we\u2019ve received for our Maxillofacial Unit team. As a smaller team in the hospital, it is important to recognise the great work they are doing and the vital role they play in the lives of our patients. Well done to the team.<\/p>\n

      A couple months ago, I had a minor procedure at Maxillofacial Unit at RBWH. I must say that my whole experience through it with my wonderful surgeon and his great team of nurses was outstanding. From their amazing positive approach, politeness, professionalism, knowledge, to overall care which is mostly hard to find these days. Thank you.<\/em><\/p>\n
