Have Your Say survey<\/h3>\n

We are finalising a Metro North wide action plan for last year\u2019s Have Your Say staff survey which we will launch in the coming months.

One area which had a very positive response was about the high commitment to patient safety across the organisation, which has been reflected in the comments we\u2019ve received from the accreditation assessors so far this year and last year. It tells me that in the main, we have the right people in the right roles putting patients at the centre of what we do every day.

This is despite the complex global healthcare workforce challenges which mean we have to think differently about what we do and don\u2019t have control of in the workforce space, and where we can make the most positive impact for our workforce, patients and consumers. \u00a0

We\u2019re finalising the Metro North Workforce Reform Roadmap which we discussed in the vidcast on Wednesday. If you weren\u2019t able to watch, the vidcast recording and slides will be available next week on QHEPS.<\/p>\n

PHN Strategic Plan<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday I attended the launch of the\u00a0Brisbane North PHN Strategic Plan<\/a>. The plan outlines their objectives and focus areas, some of which will be supported through our partnership with the PHN and through the Health Alliance, particularly addressing health gaps and inequities, and facilitating care closer to home.<\/p>\n

\"PeterPeter Slattery, Director Rehabilitation Engineering Centre<\/h3>\n

Peter Slattery, Director of Rehabilitation Engineering Centre, is hanging up the tools after 38 years of service. Peter started his career as a bioengineer with the then North Brisbane Hospital Board, Department of Physical Sciences.

He was permanently appointed to the Director role of the Rehabilitation Engineering Centre in 2006 and was instrumental in the Centre\u2019s relocation to the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS).

Peter also holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Queensland.

Peter has dedicated his career to the design and manufacture of solutions for clients with mobility and assistive technology requirements. His custom-made equipment has improved the quality of life of so many Queenslanders living with a disability and their families. \u00a0

A celebration of Peter\u2019s career will be held next\u00a0Friday 16 February 3pm, at the RBWH Education Centre<\/b>. This will be followed by a farewell toast at Victoria Park from 4.40pm for those who would like to join.\u00a0

I would like to wish Peter all the best for his retirement and thank him for his service to the profession of rehabilitation engineering and to people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

\"lunarMetro North Disability Services Action Plan<\/h3>\n

You will have seen in the Board Chair\u2019s message this week that the Board endorsed the draft Metro North Disability Services Action Plan. We are planning to launch the plan in March, and we will have a vidcast to talk about the plan and answer your questions.<\/p>\n
