Patrick Doyle<\/p><\/div>\n

RBWH Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioner (AHP) Patrick Doyle is set to retire from his role after 49 years of service to RBWH.<\/h4>\n

AHP\u2019s play a vital role in our hospital, with the role involving assisting anaesthetists in preparing the client for their anaesthetic, checking and maintaining the anaesthetic machine, preparing anaesthetic medications, monitoring clinical measurements, assisting with airway management techniques and anticipating and responding to any anaesthetic emergency.<\/p>\n

Patrick commenced at RBWH in 1975 and has worked within the Department of Anaesthesia and Peri-operative Services since 1978. He has been instrumental in driving positive change within the Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioner department and strengthening the role to ensure the department is delivering excellent frontline patient care.<\/p>\n

In the early 1990s, Patrick was involved in the planning of the first Queensland committee for the profession, Queensland Society for Anaesthetic Technicians (QSAT), which has played a key role in the growth of the profession.<\/p>\n

He is known for his hard work and dedication to his role, his strong knowledge of the organisation, and his commitment to mentoring new staff members in the department.<\/p>\n

Patrick said he has thoroughly enjoyed his career working at RBWH and has remained keenly interested in working at the hospital for many years due to the constant change.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never felt the need to move on and witnessed many friends and colleagues leave RBWH and return shortly after, saying this is the best place to work. Why would I leave?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“Now that I\u2019m retiring, I want to take a breath, relax and take in life before making plans about what I\u2019d like to do next.\u201d<\/p>\n
