Listening Posts<\/h3>\n

This week Jane Hancock and I held a Listening Post at Caboolture Hospital and visited the Caboolture Satellite Hospital. It was great to meet and chat with people. Next week we will have a Listening Post at Brighton Health Campus. Come and find us on Monday under the blue sails from 11am-12pm. You can see a calendar of upcoming visits and Listening Posts on QHEPS.<\/a><\/p>\n

National Apology Day<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday I attended the STARS Yarning Circle to mark the 16th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generation. STARS Cultural Capability Officer Jarrod Parter provided a background to the significance of the day and played a short video of Gwen Schrieber\u2019s<\/a> story of how the forced removal of children impacted her family. Thank you to everyone across Metro North who joined in the acknowledgment of this important day.<\/p>\n

Also on Tuesday our ED Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Sherry Holzapfel on behalf of Metro North attended the launch of the Queensland Health First Nations First Strategy<\/a>, a 10-year vision to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.<\/p>\n

PODSS 1000th patient<\/h3>\n

Congratulations to the STARS Post-operative Discharge Support Service this week reached the milestone of 1000 patients assisted since it started last year. PODSS provides follow up support to STARS surgical patients who and might otherwise present to an emergency department with pain or post-op concerns. You can read about the team in the Metro North Newsroom.<\/a><\/p>\n

Workforce Reform Roadmap<\/h3>\n

If you weren\u2019t able to watch last week\u2019s vidcast on the Workforce Reform Roadmap, the recording and slides are now available.<\/a> We will be holding a follow up vidcast in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Fraud awareness<\/h3>\n

As you\u2019ll see in Alister\u2019s message below, February is Fraud Awareness Month. I encourage all staff to ensure your mandatory fraud awareness training and your other mandatories are up to date.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Anthony Holley<\/h3>\n

Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s Hospital (RBWH) Intensive Care Services Senior Staff Specialist and Principal Consultant Trauma to the Surgeon General, Australian Defence Force, Associate Professor Anthony Holley has recently been promoted to Commodore by the Chief of Navy, VADM Mark Hammond AO, RAN at a ceremony in Canberra.<\/p>\n

The Principal Consultant Role is designed as an advisory position to the Surgeon General, Australian Defence Force on matters related to trauma care capability and force generation in Defence. It provides a genuine opportunity to engage all trauma care providers, both within Defence and within the civilian environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Queensland Health Awards<\/h3>\n

We have a huge amount of fantastic innovative and patient-centred work happening across Metro North. Nominations for the 2024 Queensland Health Awards are now open and close on 10 March. If you would like to shine the light on a project or team doing great work, please send your nomination to MD16-MetroNorthHHS<\/a> by 4 March so I can review and approve ahead of the due date.<\/p>\n
