Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

Patients and their families are now enjoying refurbished and brighter living areas in the Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit, thanks to the help of our partnership with the RBWH Foundation.<\/h4>\n

On Monday afternoon, we welcomed Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital donors and supporters to the Unit to see firsthand the difference that the newly renovated spaces were making for patients and their families.\u00a0

Former patients and special guest, Dr Catherine Yelland PSM, officially opened the refurbished lounge and courtyards. At the event, Nurse Unit Manager Amelia Hadley told everyone about how useful the upgraded lounge space is in helping patients reach their rehabilitation goals.<\/p>\n

\"DisabilityMonday was also an important day for Redcliffe, with the launch of the\u00a0Metro North Disability Services Action Plan.<\/i><\/b><\/a>

The Action Plan is an important document developed following co-design principles. This strong consumer involvement from those with lived experience of disability is based on the guiding premise of\u00a0“nothing about me, without me.”

Everyone should become familiar with the Plan, and work has already commenced on integrating its actions and objectives into our hospital’s operational plan.<\/p>\n

We’re grateful to Acting Allied Health Director Brooke Starkey and Chantal Fichera from the Social Work team for all their work in arranging these events on Monday.<\/p>\n

The wet weather on Monday did nothing to dampen enthusiasm for our first Staff BBQ of 2024. Thanks again to everyone who helped make that possible.<\/p>\n

\"ElwynNext Monday will be another big day for hospital events, too.

Please join us in the Education Centre from 9:30am on Monday as we celebrate the official conclusion of our successful hospital accreditation. It’s a success that belongs to everyone at Redcliffe Hospital.

Later on Monday, our Cultural Capability Officer, Elwyn Hennaway, will lead a Yarning Circle for National Close the Gap Day. Please join us if you can at 11am in the Staff Courtyard.<\/p>\n

Improving our hand hygiene<\/h3>\n

From next week, we’ll be making some improvements to our hand hygiene stations across the hospital.\u00a0On Monday, Redcliffe Hospital will begin the transition from Cutan handrub to Microshield Angel Clear hand gel.\u00a0Everyone will be familiar with Angel Clear as the\u00a0product currently available on the bottom of all hospital beds.<\/p>\n

The change-over will take about a week to complete, with wall brackets across the hospital to be changed to fit the new Microshield product.\u00a0

ieMR training milestone<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>We’ve reached a major milestone in our ieMR readiness journey, with instructor-led ieMR training starting on Monday. Line managers will work with staff needing training to arrange bookings.\u00a0\u00a0

Web-based prerequisite training is available through TMS and must be completed prior to undertaking the instructor-led training.\u00a0\u00a0

If you’re not sure\u00a0what training you need to complete, ahead of ieMR go-live, please\u00a0click here to take the interactive quiz.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Everyone who needs ieMR training will need to have it completed\u00a0prior to go-live on 15 May.\u00a0

If you have any questions about ieMR training, please talk to your line manager.<\/p>\n

Making it count more<\/h3>\n

\"MakeThis week’s tip from Health Information Services on how to make it count more\u00a0<\/i><\/b>is:<\/p>\n

Patient with an infectious condition?<\/i><\/b> – Document if an infectious condition is present on admission, or not present on admission.<\/i><\/p>\n

Examples:\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b>UTI, Sepsis, Pneumonia.<\/i><\/p>\n

By improving the accuracy of patient records, we improve patient safety and also make sure that the hospital receives all the activity-based funding that we are entitled to.

Lastly this week, a reminder about voting in local government elections tomorrow.<\/p>\n
