Easter is important to me personally as it reminds me of second chances to do better, to be better. No matter what your belief system is, it is easy to fall into a sense of despair as we face the challenges of extreme weather, housing and rent affordability and cost of living pressures.<\/h4>\n

My hope for each of you is that you may get the opportunity to share time with those who are important to you and have an opportunity to rejuvenate. Thank you to those staff who are working over the Easter period and continue to serve those people in our care.<\/p>\n

As always there have been some exciting developments from last week I would like to share.<\/p>\n

Harmony Day Celebrations across COH<\/h3>\n

I want to express my gratitude to everyone across the directorate who supported or coordinated Harmony Day events last week at various facilities.<\/p>\n

Thanks to Katie Chan at the Brighton Wellness Hub who hosted the Community Catch Up Harmony Day, embracing the theme of “everyone belongs”.<\/p>\n

To say that there was a very\u00a0strong turnout is an understatement, the event truly embodied the spirit of inclusivity.<\/p>\n

Among the attendees were community members, representatives from the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Service along with their clients, and even some of our very own COH staff.<\/p>\n

We were privileged to have Uncle George Elande as our guest, who generously shared his storytelling with the community. A big thank you to Uncle George for enriching our gathering with your narrative; it was truly appreciated by all.<\/p>\n

In addition to Uncle George’s story, it was lovely to witness everyone unite in conversation, games, and the sharing of food.<\/p>\n

Special recognition goes to our exceptional volunteers whose efforts made the event a success; we are immensely grateful for their time and dedication.<\/p>\n

The Brighton event was supported by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service who also acknowledged Close the Gap Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Final Chance – Join the COH Staff Council<\/h3>\n

I was pleased to have the opportunity to thank retiring \u00a0Board member Bonny Barry for her enthusiastic participation on the COH Staff Council recently.<\/p>\n

The Expressions of interest for clinical staff working in COH to nominate for the COH Staff Council\u00a0close this week<\/b>. Expressions of interest are open to medical, pharmacy, nursing, allied health, administration and operational staff.<\/p>\n

We are looking for several new members.\u00a0The COH Staff Council is a voice for staff to provide strategic leadership and advocacy on behalf of staff to deliver excellent person-centred care.<\/p>\n

Phone Support Trial for TMS<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m excited to announce People and Culture are\u00a0piloting a new phone support option for TMS<\/b>\u00a0enquiries which\u00a0will kick off from Monday, 25 March.\u00a0Is running until 30 June 2024.<\/p>\n

The three-month pilot will run\u00a0only for RBWH and Community and Oral Health staff<\/b>\u00a0and will be accessible by calling 1800 275 275 (AskHR<\/i>) and choosing option \u20183\u2019.<\/p>\n

The aim of this initiative is to provide TMS on-demand support for employees where they can make a call and speak to a member of the team directly, in addition to the existing avenue of logging a ticket via IT Support.<\/p>\n

If there is a clear need for TMS phone support, this trial will help the team fine tune how this service might be rolled out across Metro North.<\/p>\n

Congratulations<\/span>! 12 month anniversary – JP Service<\/h3>\n

\"12In partnership with the COH Social Work Team and the Justices of the Peace Branch, Justice and Attorney-General, the JP Service at BHC is now one year old!<\/p>\n

It was identified there was a need for this service to be available for the benefit of our residents\/patients.<\/p>\n

Two JP Volunteers have been onboarded, and both have made themselves available on a weekly basis to witness and certify important documents, such as wills, EPOAs, affidavits, statutory declarations and more.<\/p>\n

Since commencement, our JP Volunteers have seen just under\u00a0100 clients, which has resulted in approximately 200 documents being witnessed and certified.<\/p>\n

Staff, volunteers and community can access this service from 10.00 am \u2013 11.00 am every Thursday at the Hub.\u00a0 No bookings needed.\u00a0 This is a walk-in Service.<\/p>\n

A big shout-out to\u00a0 Pauline and Kathy (JP Volunteers), BHC Social Work Team, Louise Taylor and Amrutha Joseph for all working together to
\nsupport the success of the JP Service at Brighton!<\/p>\n

\"HAARTI know we covered a part of this story a few weeks ago but the HAART service appreared in the Moreton Daily recently and there was such a great write up.<\/p>\n

“A new service helping those with age-related medical conditions is making \u201ca big difference\u201d in Moreton Bay, according to the first patient.<\/i><\/p>\n

“Andy Byrne, 85, has benefited from the new\u00a0Healthy Ageing Assessment and Rehabilitation Team (HAART)\u00a0<\/a>at\u00a0Kallangur Satellite Hospital<\/a>, in Stoker Way.”<\/p>\n
