Glynis Schultz, Executive Director<\/p><\/div>\n

This week I visited the Caboolture Dental Clinic at the Satellite Hospital.<\/h4>\n

I was extremely impressed by how happy and welcoming the team were.<\/p>\n

Each week, the team have a ‘Colourful Scrubs Monday’<\/em> to make the first day of the week fun for not only the staff but also the patients.<\/p>\n

And, continuing on with this theme of fun, the team has a wannabee dinosaur named Chip who enjoys a good road trip and outing.<\/p>\n

Chip regularly tours other parts of the Satellite Hospital and goes on overnight stays at many of the Oral Health staff homes.<\/p>\n

I am told that Chip is looked after with the same standards of care and pampering that any of the patients would receive in the clinic.<\/p>\n

Our leading denture laboratory<\/h3>\n

At the same time, I joined the Caboolture Dental Clinic Laboratory team.<\/p>\n

Our Laboratory Technicians undertake around 120 repairs, relines and build new dentures each fortnight for people across\u00a0Caboolture, Redcliffe, Kilcoy and Bribie Island.<\/p>\n

Each denture and repair is very complex and has its own unique challenges, and often require a very delicate and refined set of skills and knowledge to create the best possible outcome for the client.<\/p>\n

You can see and feel how passionate the team are about making the best, safest and most comfortable denture for every patient.<\/p>\n

The Laboratory Technicians have introduced a new Lampert Puk Welder for just that reason, so that they can easily fix and create individually-made alloy dentures in house.<\/p>\n

Staying active and healthy together<\/h3>\n

They say that an early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.<\/p>\n

It gets you active, moving and in the case of the Brighton Walkers is great social and connecting experience.<\/p>\n

The Brighton Walkers, a Heart Foundation Walking Group, meets every Wednesday at 8:00 am at the Brighton Health Campus Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

They enjoy a 35\u201345-minute stroll along the beautiful foreshore at Brighton followed by coffee afterwards.<\/p>\n

The group is not just about staying active; it can also be about bringing a furry dog friend along as well!<\/p>\n

Recently it was National Doctor\u2019s Day, a day set aside to celebrate and recognise the contributions of doctors to the health and wellbeing of our communities.<\/p>\n

At Community and Oral Health, we are a very fortunate to have a growing number of doctors working across our service lines, and this year we introduced our first ever interns.<\/p>\n

We are very blessed to have many talented clinicians who are enhancing the standard and quality of the care we are providing to our residents and patients.<\/p>\n

A heartfelt compliment that says a lot about the compassionate care and kind person our very own Cindy Jackson is!<\/p>\n

“This is a small gift to say thank you. After the impact of trauma many years ago, I still have flashbacks when I sit in a dentist chair.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Finding you 18+ years ago and your care and understanding of my fear going to a dentist allowed me to feel safe again.<\/p>\n

“When my financial circumstances changed, I avoided attending my dental care. Finally, I got the courage but alas that wasn\u2019t successful.<\/p>\n

“Then being told that you worked at Caboolture and you agreed to be in charge of my dental care was one of the very special moments I have had in a long time.<\/p>\n

“Metro North Health are so lucky to have you. You have made a long journey for me worthwhile. Again, thank you so much!”\u00a0\u200b<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

A final shout out<\/h3>\n

Helping people regain and maintain their independence is at the heart of what inspires Senior Physiotherapist Erin Victor each and every day.<\/p>\n

Erin has been delivering rehabilitation programs in community settings like the Burpengary Leisure Centre and North Lakes Health Precinct for the past four and half years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find that you have more control in community setting and you see so many patient success stories,\u201d Erin said.<\/p>\n
