Thank you for making me feel so welcome at Redcliffe Hospital.<\/h4>\n

Thank you also to Louise O’Riordan, who has done a great job as the hospital’s Acting Executive Director. Louise has spent the last two weeks helping me to get to know everyone better and will be taking up her new role with Metro North on Monday.<\/p>\n

Flu vaccinations\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 500 hospital staff, students, and volunteers have already rolled up their sleeves for a free flu vaccination.<\/p>\n

On Monday,\u00a0I was joined by Senior Leadership Team members for the launch of this year’s staf<\/p>\n

f flu vaccination campaign. There will be more clinics over the next few weeks – click here to see times and locations.<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Flu vaccinations are voluntary; no appointments are needed – just a Medicare c<\/p>\n

I am Redcliffe\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’ve joined\u00a0Redcliffe Hospital at a very exciting time, with the recent launch of I am Redcliffe\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and the new Agreed Behaviou<\/em><\/strong><\/a>rs<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first of the new behaviours we all should get to know is:<\/p>\n

We respect and appreciate all individuals for who they are, and the diversity they bring.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This behaviour is associated with the Metro North Value of\u00a0Respect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Please take some time to get to know all of our new\u00a0Agreed Behaviours<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and consider how they can help to make Redcliffe Hospital a truly great place to work.<\/p>\n

Health Equity update<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since joining Redcliffe Hospital, I’ve been very impressed by everyone’s commitment to Health Equity – it’s something that is very important to me too.<\/p>\n

Together\u00a0with other Metro North Health clinicians and leaders, I attended the\u00a0Journey to Equity\u00a0<\/em>community event\u00a0this week with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.\u00a0Listening to their stories is the only way to achieve true co-design, make our care more culturally safe, and meet our commitment to Health Equity.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Journey Towards Health Equity, Metro North Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025<\/em>,\u00a0sets out how we’ll meet that commitment. As part of that Strategy, everyone is encouraged to propose solutions to help eliminate institutional barriers, reshape healthcare systems, transform care, and strengthen the\u00a0healthcare\u00a0workforce. I encourage everyone to\u00a0find out more here<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

ieMR go-live date change \u2013 26 June 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

ieMR go-live at Redcliffe Hospital has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 26 June 2024. This change will allow more time for critical infrastructure uplift work, and we’ll use that time for more ieMR practice activities, walk-through scenarios, and focused skills sessions.<\/p>\n

If you still need to complete your mandatory ieMR prerequisite or training and proficiency course\/s, please arrange this with your line manager.<\/p>\n

\"\"Meet Chelsea and Ellen<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I get to know Redcliffe Hospital better, I’ll\u00a0be including\u00a0in my messages a celebration of some of the people who are proud to say\u00a0I am Redcliffe<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This week, I’d like to introduce two third-year nursing students, Chelsea and Ellen. Both are from UniSC and have just finished their four-week clinical placement with us.<\/p>\n

Chelsea said her placement was a great experience and that she felt very well supported by her clinical facilitator, Renu, and\u00a0all of the\u00a0team she worked with in Ward 5 East.<\/p>\n

Many of us will remember what it was like to be a new clinician and the steep learning curve of a clinical placement. Thank you to everyone who helped make their experience with us\u00a0such a positive one.<\/p>\n

Sip til Send – from next Monday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Next\u00a0Monday, Redcliffe Hospital will begin a new approach to perioperative fasting for our surgical and procedural patients. This new approach is called\u00a0Sip til Send<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sip til Send <\/em>means most surgical patients will now be permitted to sip on small amounts of clear fluids\u00a0right up\u00a0until they are called for theatre.\u00a0This new approach follows contemporary international practice and should make the experience of patients\u00a0easier\u00a0and more comfortable – without compromising their safety.<\/p>\n

\"RedcliffeCar park changes\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As you may have noticed, the car parking areas out the front of the hospital have now become part of the building site for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion.\u00a0With 95 fewer car spaces available each day, the multi-storey car park is now under considerable pressure.<\/p>\n

To\u00a0help make sure\u00a0that there’s enough parking for everyone, we’re asking hospital day staff to\u00a0consider signing up<\/em><\/strong><\/a> for the staff car park at the Redcliffe Showgrounds. It’s a\u00a0cheaper\u00a0daily rate, and there are plenty of spaces available.<\/p>\n

We continue the campaign to improve the accuracy of our clinical records with this week’s Making it Count More <\/em><\/strong>tip:<\/p>\n

\nBe sure to document if AF is paroxysmal, persistent, chronic.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lastly this week, the Have Your Say <\/em>survey highlighted a need for hospital leaders to be more accessible and visible.\u00a0Planning and Performance have worked with People and Culture to develop a program that will see Senior Leadership Team members spend more time in clinical and work areas to have conversations about\u00a0what is working well and how things could be better for everyone.<\/p>\n

We hope that by making hospital leaders more accessible, we’ll make decisions more transparent and better informed.<\/p>\n
