Our first ever Shining Star \u2013 Brenda\u00a0Johnson\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Winner<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Brenda\u00a0Johnson\u00a0was\u00a0our first ever Shining Star recipient who was a\u00a0dedicated\u00a0and well-loved\u00a0dental assistant\u00a0who worked at Stafford Dental Clinic since 2015.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her colleagues remember\u00a0Brenda as a caring, conscientious hard worker, she always put the patient first with a huge smile on her face.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brenda truly deserved the Shining Star Award\u00a0as\u00a0she will be missed, remembered but never forgotten.\u00a0Our thoughts\u00a0go out to\u00a0Brenda's family and colleagues.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

\"\"Melissa Dundon, Assistant in Nursing, Cooinda House \u2013 Specialised Aged Care<\/h3>\n

Mel Dundon\u00a0is\u00a0deserving winner of the Shining Star Award as she\u00a0brings balance, calm,\u00a0and fun to all residents that she interacts with and is dedicated to those in her care.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her nomination outlines how\u00a0Mel goes beyond the call of duty and has been a key player in changing the team culture at Cooinda.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mel works extremely well in the team and is adored by the residents and families. She is person focused, not task focused.\u00a0She\u00a0aligns perfectly to the Metro North\u00a0values and her work ethics are at an extremely\u00a0high standard.\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Noah\u00a0Ombao, Administration Officer, Chloe\u00a0Flenady, Administration Officer, and\u00a0Katsuyo\u00a0Zhu, Dental Assistant \u2013 Oral Health Assistant<\/h3>\n

Noah\u00a0Omboa, Chloe\u00a0Flenady\u00a0and\u00a0Katsuyo\u00a0Zhu were stand out winners of the Shining Star Award for 2021, and following is\u00a0why:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Noah\u00a0and Chloe are\u00a0super\u00a0efficient\u00a0and dedicated. Their skills to deal with patients (and sometimes very difficult patients)\u00a0are\u00a0superlative!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Ms\u00a0Katsuyo\u2026what I can say, she is SO good doing her job and she does also CARE about the quality of her work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Community partners join the vaccination push<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s been a\u00a0big couple of months with our staff being joined by our partners\u00a0from\u00a0Queensland Ambulance Service, Community Recovery,\u00a0the\u00a0Care Army and SES\u00a0volunteers\u00a0to deliver a range of\u00a0vaccination clinics\u00a0at\u00a0state\u00a0high\u00a0schools,\u00a0Bunnings,\u00a0North\u00a0Lakes Health Precinct and Pinkenba.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"OurOur Unsung Heroes \u2013 The\u00a0Care Army\u00a0raise a helping hand<\/h3>\n

We have been very fortunate to have Care Army arrangements in place at our vaccination clinics since late August.\u00a0To date, we had more than 100 Care Army\u00a0volunteers across our major vaccination sites including Boondall,\u00a0Doomben\u00a0and Kippa-Ring \u2013 seven days a week.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a tremendous and inspiring undertaking by these volunteers. They play an important part of the vaccination effort\u00a0and out team.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

<\/div><\/div>

New GP pathway for hospital avoidance and post-acute care<\/h3>\n

Great news!\u00a0We welcomed Caroline\u00a0Bates to the\u00a0PACS service as a\u00a0Clinical Nurse\u00a0and\u00a0also received funding\u00a0from the\u00a0<\/span>Care4Qld 2021 \u2013 2024<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Strategy for the Multi-disciplinary Avoidance and Post-Acute Service (MAPS).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are one of four HHSs to receive this funding in South\u00a0East Queensland. This funding is to enhance the existing PACS services we deliver in Metro North by providing a pathway for referral by GPs and QAS and assessment of these people face to face within 24 hours.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Work has progressed well with the first patient\u00a0admitted via this new GP referral pathway\u2013 great work to everyone involved.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

\"100100 Percent vaccinations for aged care<\/h3>\n

Vaccination has been strongly encouraged for all aged care workers ahead of the introduction of mandatory vaccination in\u00a0mid\u00a0September.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At Cooinda House, the workforce has stepped up and rolled up their sleeves to ensure that we protect our most vulnerable people within our care.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cooinda House team has\u00a0achieved 100\u00a0per cent\u00a0vaccination compliance well ahead of the target date.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Update from Residential Transition Care Zillmere\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Some great things\u00a0are\u00a0happening at Residential Transition Care\u00a0Program (RTCP)\u00a0Zillmere with the establishment of a full-time pharmacist, coupled with a very high occupancy rate.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0commencement of\u00a0nurse\u00a0practitioners after hours has also proven to be an invaluable service to RTCP staff and patients\u00a0by reducing transfer of patients to\u00a0emergency departments\u00a0within Metro North.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, COVID-19 has enabled RTCP to increase utilisation of telehealth for\u00a0outpatient\u00a0appointments\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0reduction in\u00a0transport\u00a0charges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Compliment of the month \u2013\u00a0Hospital in the Home<\/h3>\n

My husband has been receiving Hospital\u00a0in the Home support for the past nine days. We are so grateful for the kindness, professionalism,\u00a0communication\u00a0and care offered to us. The nurses who visited us daily were superb.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They arrived at designated times, were patient, reassuring and caring and took time to explain, answer questions and conduct medical procedures.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We appreciated being able to do this from our home, especially with the current hospital lockdown which restricted visitors to see inpatients. A huge thank you to your staff for outstanding care.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
