Dr Sindia Madan<\/p><\/div>\n

Our first TPCH staff psychologist Dr Sindia Madan is bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role supporting staff wellbeing.<\/p>\n

After supporting the initial set-up of the Metro North staff psychology service at RBWH in 2020, Dr Madan worked to equip health professionals with the skills to build thriving teams, resilience, and a culture of psychological safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to work at TPCH as there has previously never been a dedicated staff psychology service here,\u201d Dr Madan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to support individual staff members\u2019 experience in the workplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis includes staff mental health and wellbeing, their collegiate relationships, and, as a bi-product, patient outcomes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to contributing towards taking better care of our health carers through the provision and delivery of a high quality, responsive and effective staff psychology service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout her career both in Australia and overseas, Dr Madan has seen firsthand how these stresses can take their toll on health professionals and understands how these pressures have been magnified, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring my clinical practice working with healthcare professionals, I have noted common stressors, work-related challenges, and barriers to help-seeking, which increases their vulnerability to mental health difficulties,\u201d Dr Madan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stressors of the job can exceed the coping resources and resilience capacity of even the most \u2018robust\u2019 of individuals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to promote staff wellbeing, particularly in the current environment of peak demand for health services.\u201d<\/p>\n
