Dear colleagues,<\/p>\n

As you will have seen, New South Wales\u00a0recorded\u00a0two\u00a0new cases of\u00a0locally acquired\u00a0cases of\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0this week.\u00a0As a result,\u00a0from 1am today\u00a0people arriving in Queensland who have visited an exposure site in New South Wales\u00a0must\u00a0go into hotel quarantine for 14 days.\u00a0If you have recently returned from New South Wales and have any symptoms at all, please get tested and isolate until you have a negative test result.\u00a0The full list of exposure venues can be found on the\u00a0Queensland Health\u00a0COVID-19 contact tracing website<\/a>. Please ensure you continue to monitor this page as\u00a0the list of exposure sites will be updated regularly.<\/p>\n

Interchangeability of vaccines<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Commonwealth has\u00a0issued new advice on the interchangeability\u00a0of COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n

As per the clinical guidance from the\u00a0Australian Technical Advisory Group on\u00a0Immunisation\u00a0(ATAGI), the Pfizer and AstraZeneca\u00a0vaccines are not considered interchangeable.\u00a0The two-dose course should be completed with the\u00a0same vaccine<\/strong>. There is no data yet on the efficacy of mixed schedules.<\/p>\n

If an individual develops anaphylaxis or a severe allergic reaction after the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, an alternate band can be considered for the second dose.\u00a0It is recommended to receive\u00a0a different vaccine (either Pfizer or AstraZeneca) at an interval of 4 to 12 weeks after the first dose.\u00a0If an alternate brand is\u00a0used\u00a0for the second dose, a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine does\u00a0not<\/strong>\u00a0need to be given.<\/p>\n

Vaccine advice for\u00a0international arrivals<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Commonwealth has also announced this week that\u00a0people\u00a0who have returned from overseas having received a first dose of either Pfizer or AstraZeneca\u00a0are eligible to receive their second dose regardless of phase eligibility.\u00a0This is because it is important these\u00a0people\u00a0receive timely completion of their vaccine schedule with a second dose of the same vaccine.<\/p>\n

Staff vaccinations<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our flu vaccination programs\u00a0are up and running across our facilities, and\u00a0I\u00a0would\u00a0encourage you all to get your flu shot this year.\u00a0As a reminder,\u00a0the COVID-19 vaccination program is open to all staff and your household contacts.\u00a0You can\u00a0register your interest and book an appointment online through\u00a0our\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0vaccinations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I want to thank everyone for their commitment and care during these last few weeks.\u00a0\u00a0Unfortunately,\u00a0we are still dealing with unknown scenarios in the COVID-19 space and as we deal with\u00a0what happens\u00a0I want to thank you for your agility and ability to deal with the changes.\u00a0 I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.\u00a0The days are getting cooler\u00a0so if you do have an opportunity to stay in bed with a hot cup of coffee\/tea and a good book I would strongly advise you\u00a0do\u00a0so….it is great for the soul!!!<\/p>\n
