--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 270\/300;\" \/>Since taking on the role of Executive Director at Community and Oral Health, I\u2019ve been meeting some wonderful people \u2013 all dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of their patients, residents and communities.\u00a0 In the weeks and months to come, I\u2019m looking forward to getting to know the Oral Health side of the directorate even better too.<\/p>\n<p>As many of you will know Tami has now taken on the role of Executive Director over at The Prince Charles Hospital.\u00a0 She tells us that everyone has been very welcoming there \u2013 and that while she\u2019s missing us all, she\u2019s very much enjoying the pace at one of the largest hospitals in South East Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>In taking on the role here at COH, I\u2019ve handed over to Michelle Stute as our new Senior Director of Clinical Operations.\u00a0 Mary Wheeldon has now also taken on a new as Director of Operations for COVID Clinical Response.\u00a0 Mary\u2019s work with the Metro North Virtual COVID Ward has also been recognised win the Premier\u2019s Awards for Excellence \u2013 you can read all <a href=\"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/staff-news\/newsletters\/coh-express\/2021\/03\/recognition-for-keeping-people-safe\">about that in this edition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At this month\u2019s Metro North Hospital and Health Board meeting, I was very proud to share a patient story that showed the depth of our commitment to our patients and residents.\u00a0 It was about how our nursing staff at Cooinda House had worked closely with hospital clinicians, and undertaken additional training to create a unique outcome for one patient\/resident.<\/p>\n<p>There are so many stories like this \u2013 and I think it\u2019s important that we share more of them.\u00a0 If you know of an example of how our team have done something exceptional for our patients and residents, <a href=\"mailto:COH-Communications@health.qld.gov.au?subject=Patient%20Story%20suggestion\">tell us about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, with Metro North hospitals and inpatient facilities all working hard to respond to a surge in clinical demand, there\u2019s added interest and attention being paid to Hospital in the Home (HITH).\u00a0\u00a0 Many of you will remember that we started the conversation last year about how we are going to position HITH better by aligning them with our Post-Acute Care Service (PACS), Community Palliative Care (CPC) and nurse practitioner wound clinics under a new banner \u2013 <strong><em>Better at Home Healthcare.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>We\u2019ll have more to talk about there soon.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since taking on the role of Executive Director at Community and Oral Health, I\u2019ve been meeting some wonderful people \u2013 all dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of their patients, residents and communities.
