Dear colleagues,<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been an extremely busy winter so far, on top of an already busy year. Next Sunday (18 July), we\u2019ll hold a Movie by The Mill event. Due to the current restrictions on visiting our facilities, we are holding the event off site at The Mill, Petrie. There\u2019s plenty of parking and we\u2019ll have food trucks, giant games, and music from 3pm. As it\u2019ll be my last Metro North event, I\u2019ve chosen the film this time. So, we\u2019ll be watching The Hunt for the Wilderpeople<\/em> (PG). It\u2019s a New Zealand film, to remind you that the best things in life are from the Land of the Long White Cloud\u2026<\/p>\n

Given the current restrictions won\u2019t be reviewed until next Friday, we are postponing our planned Metro North Virtual Trivia event until Friday 6 August. If you\u2019ve already registered, your team will be carried over to the new date. The theme is \u2018around the world\u2019 so feel free to dress up in your favourite international themed costume (I\u2019m imagining someone trying to sit down while dressed as the Eiffel Tower).<\/p>\n

Our activity continues to be high and I want to acknowledge our vaccination teams who have seen a spike in demand in the past two weeks. STARS has now passed 50,000 vaccinations, which is a fantastic achievement and our other vaccination hubs are going strong.<\/p>\n

Ned has been planning her last finishing touches on our house. She has embarked on trying to get a parquetry floor put into the dining room. About 8 weeks ago she had me tear up the floors down to concrete with an intention to have them replaced. Well two months later and having had 4 different companies come in and promise to give us a quote (this meant multiple Saturdays being dragged around flooring shops for me), we finally have someone who is going to replace the floor. It is a very bizarre situation that we couldn\u2019t find anyone to spend the money with. I am sure that anyone trying to get some home renovation work is probably experiencing the same issue. My lesson is do not tear the floor up until we have someone confirmed to do the work. Of course, Ned thinks I am just trying to get out of any home improvement work. I keep referring her to the bin on the kitchen cupboards that required 3 screws but had 8 holes in the door (my home improvement skills are sadly lacking along with my knowledge of horse racing and rugby league).<\/p>\n
