{"id":8760,"date":"2021-09-13T09:16:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-12T23:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/staff-news\/?p=3729"},"modified":"2021-09-13T09:16:49","modified_gmt":"2021-09-12T23:16:49","slug":"ace-20210913","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/extranet\/executive-messages\/chief-executive\/ace-20210913","title":{"rendered":"Message from the Acting Chief Executive: Jackie Hanson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start fusion-flex-content-wrap\" style=\"max-width:1352px;margin-left: calc(-4% \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-4% \/ 2 );\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-width-large:100%;--awb-margin-top-large:0px;--awb-spacing-right-large:1.92%;--awb-margin-bottom-large:20px;--awb-spacing-left-large:1.92%;--awb-width-medium:100%;--awb-order-medium:0;--awb-spacing-right-medium:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-medium:1.92%;--awb-width-small:100%;--awb-order-small:0;--awb-spacing-right-small:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-small:1.92%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>Dear colleagues,<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, the Director-General\u00a0announced that\u00a0vaccinations will become mandatory for all Queensland Health employees working in locations where care is provided to patients and consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Given the widespread distribution of our services across Metro North Health,\u00a0this mandate will apply to all\u00a0staff, both clinical and non-clinical, at all of our hospitals and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The mandate requires\u00a0that all unvaccinated staff obtain their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by 30 September and second dose by 31 October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to mandate vaccinations for healthcare workers is supported by evidence\u00a0around the world that health workers are at high risk of contracting COVID-19 in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Our HHS has worked very hard to stay safe from COVID-19 over the past 20 months, however we cannot expect to maintain our good fortune through hard work alone in the months and years ahead.<\/p>\n<p>This is why we must take steps to protect ourselves and each other\u00a0now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting vaccinated<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are not yet vaccinated, we will do what we can to support you to meet this requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Staff will be prioritised at our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1427\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAjeAyoSzJ.aqsXgl89KGH.html\">vaccination clinics<\/a>\u00a0at:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s Hospital<\/li>\n<li>The Prince Charles Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Kippa-Ring<\/li>\n<li>Boondall (Brisbane Entertainment Centre)<\/li>\n<li>Doomben Racecourse, and<\/li>\n<li>Caboolture Square Shopping Centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The clinics will offer walk in times as well which will enable easy access before, after or during working hours.<\/p>\n<p>Full vaccination means having two doses of the Pfizer vaccine spaced 3 weeks apart or two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine spaced up to 12 weeks apart.\u00a0You can find out more about the vaccines on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1428\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAcLZ4JJiN3l1ixNw5A2GP.html\">Queensland Health<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1429\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAwY_Z2Lu4WcKSVmtOdK1U.html\">Australian Government<\/a>\u00a0websites.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Health has set up an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1430\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAS3T.LQs5XUNbuox_VSef.html\">intranet page on mandatory vaccinations to answer the main questions you may have<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You are also welcome to be vaccinated at a location of your choosing. Visit the Queensland Health\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1431\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAuERvbhTShEGJYyhkW8Zq.html\">Getting Vaccinated<\/a>\u00a0page to view the other options available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will be working through these changes with staff and unions.\u00a0We will circulate more information to staff and hold several vidcasts where you can have your questions answered, or you can seek advice directly from your line manager.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be holding a vidcast at 3pm today with Executive Director HR Peter Patmore to answer questions.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/3ff2d\/1432\/nnHc2cHTTzUd5lX9.pZAVFKWsoHUA6Sl_nZd2Ihl.html\">Join the vidcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, concerns or difficulty obtaining your vaccination, please reach out to your line manager.<\/p>\n<p>We will support staff with specific medical conditions to access the medically supervised adult vaccination clinic at RBWH. Please contact your local EOC for details on how to access this clinic.<\/p>\n<p>We understand that in some very specific circumstances there may be a medical reason why a staff member cannot be vaccinated.
