Caboolture Hospital\u2019s new Occupational Violence Prevention (OVP) officer Hapafila Liu.<\/p><\/div>\n

Caboolture Hospital\u2019s new Occupational Violence Prevention (OVP) Officer, Hapafila Liu, is passionate about assisting staff to manage challenging behaviours in the workplace while ensuring patients can receive the care they need.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With work-related violence and aggression being one of the highest reported incidences in RiskMan, it\u2019s important that all staff at Caboolture Hospital know their rights and responsibilities to help themselves and their colleagues when faced with a challenging situation.<\/p>\n

Hapafila\u2019s role includes facilitating training sessions for our staff several times each week, to better prepare them if they experience work-related vioulence and agresion on the job.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Conflict Management<\/a> class is a base level class designed for most staff who have face to face contact with patients and visitors and aims to prepare staff to recognise and respond to work-related violence and agression,\u201d Hapafila said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe run these classes three to four times a week, depending on demand, so there is always an opportunity for staff to refresh their skills and get up to speed on both the theoretical and physical sides of the training \u2013 it is so important we are all prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStaff can register for their course via the Talent Management System<\/a> (TMS) and staff who don\u2019t have face to face contact with patients or visitors can do their eLearning training here, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Courses are held at the University of the Sunshine Coast Caboolture campus training facilities, which is a 12-minute walk or five-minute drive from Caboolture Hospital. There is plenty of free parking available on-site, particularly during university holiday periods.<\/p>\n
