Heavy rain is expected to continue through today and possibly into tomorrow. This is causing significant flooding around access roads to Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford. Kilcoy and Woodford have been isolated since Friday due to floodwaters blocking the D\u2019Aguilar Highway and key local roads. At Caboolture, access is blocked from the north, east and west, but Bruce Highway access is still possible.<\/h4>\n

We are on a code brown for the CKW directorate.<\/p>\n

I want to thank the staff who have stayed at our facilities to care for patients while other staff are unable to get here. I know people are tired and I cannot thank you highly enough for your commitment. We are working on a plan to get you home and new staff into Kilcoy and Caboolture.<\/p>\n

We are continuing to work closely with the Metro North EOC, Moreton Bay and Somerset Regional Councils, and the Local Disaster Management Group.<\/p>\n

Please drive to the conditions today and check the Moreton Bay Regional Council website for the list of local roads closed due to flooding. It is available here: Weather impacted roads – Moreton Bay Regional Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Somerset Regional Council has a webcam of Kilcoy Creek bridge and other local river crossings:
\nSomerset Regional Council – Flood Cameras<\/a>. The new bridge into town over Kilcoy Creek is well and truly over.<\/p>\n

We will be postponing planned care for the next 24 hours. This will help minimise the number of people trying to get to our facilities and allow us to reallocate staffing to care for our inpatients and emergency presentations.<\/p>\n

With localised flooding and heavy rain, we expect many staff may have trouble getting to their usual workplace. If you can\u2019t get to work, please let your line manager know as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

We are currently working on a process for clinical staff who can\u2019t get to Caboolture over the next 24 hours to present at another Metro North hospital. The process will be in the Metro North Incident Controller message this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Non-clinical staff, please work from home on Monday until at least midday if you are able to.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re at Caboolture Hospital and won\u2019t be able to make it home this afternoon due to flooded roads, the Discharge Lounge in the Education Centre is a safe place to stay until it\u2019s safe to go home again.<\/p>\n
