It’s been another busy week for Redcliffe Hospital, with the Emergency Department and many wards and services under pressure. Thank you to everyone who has worked together to meet this challenge.<\/h4>\n

COVID-19 update<\/h2>\n

As busy are we are, I ask everyone to please make an extra effort when it comes to the correct use of our PPE. We’re still seeing too many people who are too relaxed about properly wearing their P2\/N95 masks and eye protection in the main building. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking we don’t need our PPE anymore. There are still dozens of hospital staff every day unable to attend work because they are COVID-positive or close contacts. We’re continuing to find patients who are unexpectedly COVID-positive as well.<\/p>\n

Something else that we can all do to help keep on top of COVID-19 is to upload our vaccination booster status. If you’ve had your booster, please upload your evidence<\/a> and keep that record up to date.<\/p>\n

Correct PPE use, boosters, and physical distancing are all ways to keep ourselves and our patients safe. I do the right thing, even when no one is looking. #IamRedcliffe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Celebrating research at Redcliffe<\/h2>\n

Redcliffe Hospital’s reputation for research has grown considerably over the past few years. A good part of that is thanks to Dr Joel Dulhunty and his team’s work in hosting our annual Research Symposium. Each year, the Symposium showcases the depth and variety of research undertaken at Redcliffe Hospital. This year, the Symposium will be held on Thursday, 15 September. Make sure to save the date now.<\/p>\n

You can help to showcase our researchers by submitting a nomination for this year’s Research Excellence Awards. Nominations for these Metro North awards are now open.<\/a> This year, there’s a special award to recognise the research contribution of nurses and midwives. Other research awards will celebrate early career researchers and those who mentor and inspire research excellence. Nominations close on Tuesday, 5 April, with the awards to be presented in June.<\/p>\n

Another milestone for research at Redcliffe has been the appointment of Dr Amanda Fox to our new nursing and midwifery research professorial position. The position is a joint one between Redcliffe Hospital and QUT and was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Redcliffe Hospital Private Practice Trust Fund and Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital <\/a>(our philanthropic partnership with the RBWH Foundation).<\/p>\n

Lastly this week, a reminder about our Yarning Circle<\/a> next Thursday morning in the Healing Garden. Please come along if you can, and help us ‘acknowledge the past, create the present, inspire the future’.<\/p>\n
