The CKW Directorate is full of wonderful people who share a strong commitment to care for patients and improve the health of our community. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the last six months we have had a very significant reminder to place more importance on compassionate communication with our patients and to really listen and appropriately action patient feedback.<\/p>\n

We must continue to deliver compassionate care and one of the most important aspects of that is keeping our patients and their loved ones informed.<\/p>\n

Let them know what\u2019s happening, what\u2019s next and what to expect in the future. Greet them with a smile. Explain things. Avoid using jargon. Encourage them to ask questions and check-in to make sure they understand. Empathetic and compassionate communication should always be front of mind.<\/p>\n

Culturally safe and appropriate care for our patients is equally as important. Delivering culturally sensitive care and culturally competent communication are powerful tools for healthcare providers and ultimately help us to deliver a better patient experience.<\/p>\n

We also need to think about what more we can do to ensure we are providing a positive patient experience. If our patients have taken the time to provide constructive feedback, let\u2019s make sure their voice is heard through the PREMS survey and other patient liaison services.<\/p>\n

Everything we do should come back to the purpose we are all here for \u2013 to deliver the best healthcare to the community we serve.<\/p>\n

As an organisation that values and promotes patient safety, we must ensure it continues to be our key focus.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m interested to hear from you on how we can continue to improve patient care. Please email me your ideas and insights into how we can cultivate a care-orientated environment. One of my key focuses this year is listening and responding to our consumers to make their journey better.<\/p>\n

This year will also have a strong focus on the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment, including getting ourselves ready and organised to move safely and efficiently into the new Clinical Services Building and to welcome our first patient when it opens next year.<\/p>\n

The Caboolture Hospital kitchen refurbishment project and new room service model is also a key activity for 2022 and will result in temporary changes to the Staff Wellness Centre while construction activities are underway.<\/p>\n

The new BEMS building is also due for completion later this year, and I have no doubt our BEMS team is excited to move into their new home near the Bury Street end of our campus.<\/p>\n

In addition, construction of Metro North\u2019s satellite facilities at Caboolture (Rowe Street) and Bribie Island (corner of First Avenue and Goodwin Drive) are due to get underway very soon.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s shaping up to be another busy year for CKW and your continued commitment is always valued and appreciated.<\/p>\n
