\"TPCHThis week, we celebrated the transition of Clinical Support Services back to TPCH with a free staff breakfast. We had a fantastic response from staff and it was great to acknowledge the valuable contribution of these services which support the delivery of great patient care at TPCH. These are some photos from the breakfast.<\/h4>\n

\"TPCHExecutive visits<\/h2>\n

This week, I had the opportunity to visit our Adult Emergency Department and Cardiology which included the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Investigations Unit. It was great to be able to see these busy areas in action, and speak with staff about their area\u2019s achievements and challenges. A highlight of my visit was viewing the Catheter Lab\u2019s new radiation protection technology which provides clinicians with more protection and comfort than the current lead aprons, when performing interventional cardiac procedures. A great initiative!<\/p>\n

Also this week, our Acting Director Corporate Services, Karen Leighton visited the Food Services team in recognition of their transition back to TPCH, and will be meeting with staff from all of the other Patient Support Services in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Announcement of returning staff member<\/h2>\n

Please be advised that Dr Darren Walters will be returning to TPCH to resume his responsibilities as Director of Cardiology from Tuesday 19 April 2022. We welcome Dr Walters back to TPCH. Thank you to Dr George Javorsky for acting in the Director\u2019s role and leading the team and services in providing a high standard of care to the patients of TPCH.<\/p>\n

Lua Asi<\/p><\/div>\n

Staff Profile<\/h2>\n

This week, we will profile Protective Services Officer, Lua Asi.

As a Protective Services Officer, Lua is responsible for the protection of staff, patients, visitors and property on TPCH campus.\u00a0This involves ensuring the physical safety of people through responding to fire alarms, duress alarms and all codes.\u00a0 Other day-to-day responsibilities include issuing parking infringements, addressing smoking violations and monitoring CCTV footage.

Having worked in the role for the last nine years, and the broader security environment since the age of 18, Lua has extensive experience in the field, which he applies to many different situations where protection services are needed.\u00a0For Lua, the best part of the role is being able to help others, particularly in situations involving challenging patients or visitors, something which he says his physically large stature proves useful.\u00a0 A true team player, Lua believes that many hands make light work, an essential attitude when it comes to working together to keep everyone safe, so they can go home to their families.

Outside of work, Lua enjoys swimming at the pool and beach with his family.<\/p>\n

These Awards recognise TPCH nurses who demonstrate exceptional professional leadership and have an impact directly and\/or indirectly on patient and client care. These individuals enhance the profession of nursing, display a genuine passion for the profession, and inspire those around them.
