You may not have noticed it, but there was a big change at Redcliffe Hospital over the weekend. The leadership, management, and governance of Patient Support Services, Medical Imaging, Security, and Food Services have all now shifted from Metro North to Redcliffe Hospital.<\/h4>\n

These are some of the hospital’s most essential services. Every day they care for patients, protect us, and keep patient flow moving. While they’ve always worked here at the hospital, before this change, they were managed at the Metro North level. Now, everything from day-to-day operational and clinical decisions to budgetary and long-term strategic plans will be made here at Redcliffe.<\/p>\n

As a result of this change, the Medical Imaging department is now part of Redcliffe Hospital’s Allied Health team. Security and Patient Support Services will be managed by Facility Services, and Food Services will be shared between Allied Health and Facility Services.<\/p>\n

It’s also a positive change for the 300 staff who are part of these services. They’re now 100% part of our\u00a0#IamRedcliffe\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>hospital community.<\/p>\n

What won’t change though is the essential work these services and staff do each day, or our respect for them.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the change and to show our appreciation, this morning we held a special welcome BBQ in the Staff Courtyard for these teams. Thank you to everyone who came along to share in the celebration.\u00a0We say thankyou to show our appreciation #IamRedcliffe.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Like all hospitals in Metro North, we started the week in a challenging position. For many clinical areas, it’s been a long and busy week.\u00a0As we head into the Easter long weekend, many areas of our hospital remain under pressure too.<\/h4>\n

Overall though, we have responded well to this latest challenge.\u00a0I’d like to acknowledge everyone who has helped us maintain safe patient care this week. Thank you to everyone who has\u00a0worked overtime, double shifts, and\u00a0gone out of their way to help others.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m grateful also to Sally Taranec, Geoff Grima, and Grant Carey-Ide, who will each be taking turns as the hospital’s Incident Controller over the next few days.\u00a0I’ll be away until late Sunday in North Queensland with my family.\u00a0 I’ll be back at the hospital on Monday, as we prepare for another busy week.<\/p>\n

Easter means many things to different people in our community. For many, it retains a significant religious and cultural meaning. For many more, it’s a time shared with\u00a0family and friends, celebrated with Easter egg hunts, and flavoured by hot cross buns and chocolate!<\/p>\n

For our inpatients though, it means being away from all of that. Thank you to the hundreds of staff and clinicians this weekend who will be doing all they can to make this weekend a friendlier and warmer one for our patients.<\/p>\n

If you are working this Easter weekend, please also do what you can to make our hospital warmer and friendlier for each other too.\u00a0
