Well done to everyone who participated in or helped raise money for the World\u2019s Greatest Shave!<\/p><\/div>\n

Cancer has touched the lives of most, whether through our work at RBWH or in our personal lives. Each year, we are proud to see individuals and teams from RBWH digging deep to raise money for cancer research and support initiatives.<\/h4>\n

The Pathology Queensland Northern Team at RBWH raised more than $3,973 for the Leukaemia Foundation, with three staff members putting their hand up to be brave and shave in this year\u2019s World\u2019s Greatest Shave.<\/p>\n

Angus Pigott, Simone Simpson and Jimmy Yan all said goodbye to their locks, with the rest of the team volunteering for shaving duties. They also held a special morning tea for the occasion.<\/p>\n

Emma Jones-Perrin, also a member of the RBWH Pathology Queensland team, was chosen as the Leukaemia Foundation\u2019s Community Champion and had her head shaved at the Brisbane Lions game on 19 March in front of thousands of spectators.<\/p>\n

Emma\u2019s 21-year-old son Elliot was diagnosed with leukaemia in March last year and required a bone marrow transplant. Eight months following his bone marrow transplant, Elliot is doing well and now Emma is on a mission to help others just like him.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one from our family was a bone marrow match for my son, so his only chance to beat cancer was through the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Register (ABMDR). We are so grateful a donor was about to be found overseas,\u201d Emma said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, I want to raise awareness for the ABMDR and raise money to support blood cancer patients and their families.<\/p>\n

\u201cHealthy Australians aged between 18-35-years-old may be eligible to become a bone marrow donor. You could save a life!\u201d<\/p>\n
