As you would know we have already started to move into a flu season that is going to be very challenging.<\/h4>\n<p>Around 1,000 Community and Oral Health staff so far have got vaccinated in such a short period of time. Such an amazing effort!<\/p>\n<p>Please find the link to the <a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8q9rm\/3678\/ethmC2H5RaeS7zq_gGVfl3refRAvvosqZLVFOY_E.pdf\">current flu timetable<\/a> for your information.<\/p>\n<h2>Great initiatives and updates<\/h2>\n<p>At our executive this week we were treated to a number of presentations from many of our service lines, which featured updates about the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Great work\u00a0our call centre staff are doing to\u00a0manage wait lists<\/li>\n<li>Planning\u00a0to support the transition to new aged\u00a0care funding models<\/li>\n<li>Planned activity to extend our pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation programs<\/li>\n<li>Consultation to\u00a0extend hospital in the home\u00a0paediatric capability<\/li>\n<li>Continuation of geriatrician work to improve care of the elderly and our community services<\/li>\n<li>Partnering work with STARS to support our rehabilitation services at Brighton.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also, a very big thank you to the teams across our directorate who have been doing such a wonderful job managing their budgets as we move toward a new financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Community and Oral Health is always one of the leading directorates in Metro North to meet its budget obligations and that is due to the hard work and diligence of our teams.<\/p>\n<h2>Be part of the research conversation<\/h2>\n<p>Next week, there is an exciting opportunity for COH staff to be part of the broader research conversation.<\/p>\n<p>COH staff \u2013 including researchers, research managers and administrators, clinical, technical, professional and administrative staff, are invited to be active participants in the\u00a0Research Strategy Consultation Forum.<\/p>\n<p>As we come to close of the\u00a0Metro North Research Strategy&nbsp;2017-2022,\u00a0we have an opportunity to set a collective vision for research excellence in Metro North.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, we need to understand the needs and priorities of the\u00a0research community, Health Service, patients and consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Staff can participate in one of two virtual Consultation Forums<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8q9rm\/3657\/ethmC2H5RaeS7zq_gGVf9NpVaWq.V7YB6EVpN7BA.html\">Monday 16 May 3.00 \u2013 5.00 pm<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8q9rm\/3658\/ethmC2H5RaeS7zq_gGVf5J1kgeCuf5cgQMzbdlg..html\">Wednesday 25 May 2.00 &#8211; 4.00 pm.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your responses and participation will help articulate a vision for Metro North Research and contribute to our refreshed Metro North Research Strategy.<\/p>\n<h2>Stay safe<\/h2>\n<p>Wet weather is predicted to continue across the week, and we know this can impact staff travel to work especially our home visiting staff.
