We celebrated them all this week for International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day.<\/h4>\n<p>The highlight of our celebrations was yesterday&#8217;s presentation of our Nursing and Midwifery Awards.<br \/>\nCongratulations to all of our award recipients, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Redcliffe Hospital&#8217;s Nurse of the Year &#8211;\u00a0Robyn Easton<\/li>\n<li>Redcliffe Hospital&#8217;s Midwife of the Year &#8211;\u00a0Jeanie Cooper<\/li>\n<li>Our Emerging New Leader &#8211;\u00a0Amanda Norman<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in Clinical Practice award winner &#8211;\u00a0Anndrea Flint<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in Teamwork award winner &#8211;\u00a0Anthony Bowler<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in Education, Training, Research &amp; Innovation award winner &#8211;\u00a0Kylie Jacobs<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in Strengthening Patient Safety Culture award winner &#8211;\u00a0Stacey Hobden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After an entertaining and informative series of debates, the Surgical Service Line was announced as this year&#8217;s winner for\u00a0<em>Battle of the Service Lines<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In presenting the awards, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Sally Taranec, talked about the importance of our Assistants in Nursing (AINs) and the credit they have brought upon themselves this year in supporting the concierge service and patient care across the hospital.\u00a0To that, I would add that the skill and dedication that our nursing and midwifery graduates are showing proves that the future of our professions is in good hands.<\/p>\n<h2>Catch the Chief<\/h2>\n<p><em>Catch the Chief <\/em>was also part of Redcliffe Hospital&#8217;s nursing and midwifery day celebrations. On Tuesday, Metro North&#8217;s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8rx6c\/3683\/oitpv8Jy9QgWR5Y7XQ6_IgR5ilg7btBh2rHwu.tH.html\"><em>Alanna Geary<\/em><\/a>, walked more than 30 kilometres on a treadmill, raising funds to support nursing and midwifery research. Some of our senior nursing team, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8rx6c\/3684\/oitpv8Jy9QgWR5Y7XQ6_PT9t7kTBZSb8gzPqxyy4.html\"><em>Sally Taranec<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8rx6c\/3685\/oitpv8Jy9QgWR5Y7XQ6_9xOCHgyyGEiD9VC0Xwxw.html\"><em>Anna Pevreal<\/em><\/a>, also &#8216;stepped in&#8217; to help out as well.<\/p>\n<p>Our thanks to the Physiotherapy Department for their treadmill, and to Facility Services, BEMS, and Patient Support Services for their logistical assistance.<\/p>\n<h2>SLT update<\/h2>\n<p>At our Senior Leadership Team meeting this week, we spent a lot of time reviewing each service line&#8217;s proposals to improve patient flow and safety further. We&#8217;re looking at these proposals with an open mind, with several worthy of further work and exploration. We&#8217;re also using the\u00a0<em>Have Your Say Staff Survey\u00a0<\/em>results and feedback to inform this work.<\/p>\n<h2>Staff flu vaccination update<\/h2>\n<p>As of yesterday afternoon, around 37% of Redcliffe Hospital staff had received their vaccination against the flu this winter. If you&#8217;re one of the 63% of staff still yet to have a flu vaccination, please either make a booking with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8rx6c\/3686\/oitpv8Jy9QgWR5Y7XQ6_nlIlnWjbULO0dDyl.0oM.html\"><em>Pharmacy Team<\/em><\/a>\u00a0or attend one of our mobile\/pop-up clinics.<\/p>\n<p>Infection Prevention will be running pop-up mobile clinics on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday 16 May, between 1:30pm and 3:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 17 May, between 1:30pm and 3:15pm<\/li>\n<li>Friday 20 May, between 6:30am and 8:30am<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 24 May, between 1:30pm and 3:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 25 May, between 10am and Noon, and<\/li>\n<li>Friday 27 May, between 1pm and 3pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These clinics will be moving around clinical areas, so call the team on #7546 each day for their location.<br \/>\nGetting vaccinated against the flu is one of the best ways you can protect yourself, your family, and our patients this winter.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly this week, our ICU team has been named as a finalist in this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/8rx6c\/3688\/oitpv8Jy9QgWR5Y7XQ6_i3De_EZtZeGyGJzYBHZi.html\"><em>Metro North Research Excellence Awards<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0<em>Complex Health Challenges <\/em>category.\u00a0The awards will be presented on Thursday, 2 June.
