May has been a month of celebrations at RBWH as we recognise our staff for the amazing work they do every day.<\/h4>\n

On 6 May, we said thank you to our administration team for the vital role they play in the day-to-day running of RBWH for Administrative Professionals Day. On 5 May, we celebrated International Day of the Midwife, and on 12 May, we showed our nurses how much they mean to us on International Nurses Day. There are so many different professions and specialty staff that make RBWH the great place that it is and I\u2019m so proud to be part of this hospital alongside you all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this month\u2019s issue of News at the Royal, we showcase some fantastic examples of research and innovation happening at RBWH. The Thoracic Department has welcomed their new bronchoscopy robot, which is able to test and identify potentially cancerous nodules earlier than previous technology. The RBWH Epilepsy team, alongside UQ researchers, are using organoids (or mini-brains) to help epilepsy patients find the right medication sooner and with fewer side effects.<\/p>\n

Read on to find out about the special music therapy event for adolescents and young adults undergoing cancer treatment held recently in the Sony You Can Centre, facilitated by the Stairwell Project musicians and hosted by comedian and host of Channel Ten\u2019s Taboo<\/em>. You can also find out how Mother\u2019s Day was for mum Jess and baby Cooper in the RBWH NICU.<\/p>\n

Royal Giving Day is just a few weeks away on 15 June, and the RBWH Foundation has plenty of exciting activities planned for the day. To find out how you and your team can get involved, visit the RBWH Foundation website.<\/a><\/p>\n
