incredible efforts of our dedicated researchers at our seventh annual Metro North Research Excellence Awards.<\/h4>\n<p>Research is vital in driving change in clinical practice to improve patient outcomes, and it was a difficult task to select the finalists across seven categories.<\/p>\n<p>The awards attracted 71 submissions and showcases the diverse and far-reaching research projects conducted by individual researchers and teams from across all Metro North Health facilities.<\/p>\n<p>A big congratulations to all of this year\u2019s winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Researcher of the Year \u2013 <\/strong>Professor Steven Lane<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rising Star Award \u2013 <\/strong>Associate Professor Peter Lazzarini<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research Support Award \u2013 <\/strong>Professor Merrilyn Banks<\/li>\n<li><strong>Discovery and Innovation Research Award \u2013 <\/strong>Safer, more accurate and more comfortable radiotherapy through 3D printing \u2013 Cancer Care Services, RBWH<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clinical Research Award \u2013 <\/strong>Puzzling: Probiotics and Preeclampsia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complex Health Challenges Research Award &#8211; <\/strong>Redcliffe Hospital Intensive Care Unit &#8211; excellence in interdisciplinary research to benefit patients and families<\/li>\n<li><strong>Health Services and Implementation Research Award &#8211; <\/strong>Eat Walk Engage: preventing delirium and improving hospital care for older Queenslanders<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chief Executive Award \u2013 <\/strong>Professor Nadine Foster<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professor Joan Webster Nursing and Midwifery Award \u2013 <\/strong>Emily Larsen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Consumer Engagement Award <\/strong>&#8211; Implementation of the
