--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 200\/300;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4086\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tami Photinos, Executive Director, The Prince Charles Hospital<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>Due to our current surge with increasing numbers of COVID-19 admissions and furloughed staff, additional measures will be implemented over the next\u00a0<strong>4 weeks<\/strong>\u00a0as part of Metro North\u2019s current Tier 3 COVID Response.<\/h4>\n<p>Additional measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cancel all non-clinical meetings<\/li>\n<li>Cease all education, training and non-essential activities<\/li>\n<li>Only at the elbow education support in clinical areas<\/li>\n<li>Planned care \u2013 only Category 1 can continue for specialty ambulatory care services i.e. cancer care services, dialysis and medical Imaging<\/li>\n<li>Outpatients \u2013 only Category 1 new and Category 1 review i.e. urgent post procedure review<\/li>\n<li>Cases that do not fit into this category but are deemed urgent or complex or detrimental to patient care outcomes need to be escalated to TPCH Executive Director or TPCH Director Medical Services for approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While we are approaching the peak, TPCH is managing increased concurrent inpatient for COVID and Acute Care and has enacted Acute Respiratory and Influenza planning to support patient care and flow. We\u00a0will advise the relevant areas and include more in my Friday message so all staff are aware.<\/p>\n<h2>Boosters<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s important to keep your COVID-19 vaccinations up-to-date, which means having all boosters you are eligible for to provide an extra layer of protection against COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>You can get your booster by making an appointment with your GP or local pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p>To record your COVID-19 booster:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download your COVID digital certificate from your myGov account<\/li>\n<li>Go to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/b4q4w\/1550\/hdj12MQquAXleQrX8ks0mokb9d3kIJYWaS8Nmrna.html\">COVID-19 Vaccination Hub<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Choose the +Booster Vaccination option<\/li>\n<li>Add your booster details<\/li>\n<li>Upload or drag and drop your certificate<\/li>\n<li>Save<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/comms.health.qld.gov.au\/ch\/92002\/b4q4w\/4382\/hdj12MQquAXleQrX8ks0lWsTuniAYLsnHxAvYlCl.html\">third and fourth dose<\/a>\u00a0vaccination includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Queenslanders aged 16 and over who have had two COVID-19 vaccine doses more than 3 months ago should get a third COVID-19 vaccine dose.<\/li>\n<li>People aged 50 and over, and those at greater risk of severe illness, are recommended to have a fourth dose (also called a winter dose), from 3 months after the first booster dose.<\/li>\n<li>People aged 30 to 49 can also get a fourth dose if they choose.<\/li>\n<li>Even if you\u2019ve had COVID-19, you should still get your boosters after an interval of 3 months.<\/li>\n<li>Children aged 5 to 15 should get 2 COVID-19 vaccine doses. Boosters are not currently recommended for this age group unless they are immunocompromised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>PPE\/Masks<\/h2>\n<p>Metro North is still in the high risk PPE category, which means PPE is required in all areas.<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of P2\/N95 and protective eyewear is required for clinical areas, and flat surgical masks for non-clinical areas. Please also remember your hand hygiene and social distancing.<\/p>\n<h2>Returning COVID-19 impacted staff to work<\/h2>\n<p>We still have a large number of TPCH staff who are furloughed due to being COVID-19 positive or a close contact. To allow us to support these impacted staff to return to the workplace, we ask that staff and\/or line managers email the\u00a0<strong>name and contact number<\/strong>\u00a0of the relevant staff member\/s to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:TPCHContactTracing@health.qld.gov.au\">TPCHContactTracing@health.qld.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Important points:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If a staff member is a close contact, and meets the three Risk Assessment Criteria (below), they must escalate their request to return to work through their line manager, who will then escalate to TPCH Contact Tracing. Staff must not return to the workplace until approval has been granted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Close Contact &#8211; Risk Assessment Criteria<\/h3>\n<p>Here are the criteria staff must meet to be considered for approval to return to work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No symptoms<\/li>\n<li>Negative RAT<\/li>\n<li>No caring responsibilities at home \u2013 caring for young children i.e. go home to a positive 0-6 year old who cannot safely isolate or wear a mask<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We would like to clarify the process that staff need to follow if they have tested positive or are a close contact, when planning their return to the workplace:<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-1\">\n<table style=\"width: 100%;height: 280px\" width=\"100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"72\"><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"622\">If you test positive for COVID or are a close contact notify your line manager and email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:TPCHContacttracing@health.qld.gov.au\">TPCHContacttracing@health.qld.gov.au<\/a>\u00a0with your name and mobile phone number<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"72\"><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"622\">Staff member will be contacted by TPCH Contact Tracing upon notification.\u00a0 Their situation will be assessed and staff member provided with a potential return to work date.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"72\"><strong>Step 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"622\">Staff member to notify their line manager of potential return to work date.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"72\"><strong>Step 4\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"622\">For a staff member who is a close contact to be considered for return to work, they need to be risk assessed by their line manager and if they meet the criteria, the line manager will complete the request to return to work.
