We’re now through the worst of the winter months.\u00a0The number of COVID-positive patients we’re caring for has fallen, and they’re now being cared for in our single negative flow and negative pressure rooms on 6 East.\u00a0A few weeks ago, around 90 staff could not attend work each day because of COVID reasons – it’s now only a handful each day.<\/h4>\n

Last week, we resumed most of our planned care, and we’re back to face-to-face training too.\u00a0Things can change quickly, and we’ll be ready if they do, but more and more, it’s starting to feel like spring is here with plenty of good things for us to celebrate and look forward to.<\/p>\n

To\u00a0thank everyone for their efforts during those busy winter months, we’ll be holding a ‘Thank You’<\/strong> Staff BBQ<\/strong><\/a><\/em> for everyone to enjoy on Tuesday, 13 September.<\/p>\n

Our COVID and influenza response earlier this year meant we had to postpone our Staff Excellence Awards<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Nominations for those awards close at 5pm today<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and the awards will be presented on Monday, 26 September. Our awards are sponsored by QSuper.<\/p>\n

Dr Joel Dulhunty and the research team established the Redcliffe Hospital Research Symposium<\/strong> back in 2017. This year’s Symposium will be held on Thursday, 15 September, with our Cultural Capability Officer, Elwyn Henaway, delivering the keynote address at Noon. The Symposium\u00a0program was released this week<\/a><\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to October, Raise it for Redcliffe’s Giving Day will be on Friday, 14 October.\u00a0Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day<\/strong><\/em> is the biggest event in the\u00a0Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital\u00a0calendar. August #IamRedcliffe<\/em> Team of the Month<\/h2>\n

At our Staff Forum this week, we announced this month’s #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month<\/a><\/strong><\/em> nominees and winners. We had four nominees this month, including the Central Equipment Store, Occupational Therapy, and the Paediatric Nursing Team.\u00a0Congratulations again to this month’s winners, the Car Park team, which was recognised for finding positive solutions and always being helpful to patients, visitors and staff.<\/p>\n

White Ribbon<\/h2>\n

Metro North Health is once again working towards White Ribbon Accreditation<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. Becoming a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace demonstrates our responsibility to uphold zero tolerance against violence. It means standing up against attitudes and behaviours that go against our values, promoting a respectful workplace, and supporting those whose lives are affected by domestic and family violence. You can help by completing the mandatory domestic and family violence training ‘Recognise, Respond, Refer<\/em>‘ available on\u00a0TMS<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0before Sunday, 18 September 2022.<\/p>\n

COVID Blitz<\/h2>\n

Last week’s COVID Blitz was a big success, with more than 200 hospital staff rolling up their sleeves for their third or fourth COVID vaccination. If you missed that opportunity, you can still book an appointment<\/strong><\/em><\/a> at a number of local pharmacies and GP clinics.<\/p>\n

Emergency Department demountable<\/h2>\n

Overnight we were on a Code Yellow to support the arrival of the Emergency Department’s temporary demountable building<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. After lots of careful planning and collaboration with our QAS and QPS colleagues, that building was successfully delivered early this morning.\u00a0Over the next week or so, it will be properly installed to provide the Emergency Department with six to eight additional treatment spaces. This additional space is a temporary measure to assist with patient flow. Many thanks to all involved, especially those on-site at 4am this morning.<\/p>\n

On a personal note from me<\/h2>\n

My daughter, Sophie is expecting her first baby in September. This is my fourth grandchild, and I am pretty excited. Grandchildren bring great joy to the family.\u00a0We celebrate the good things, the small things, the big things, they all matter. #IamRedcliffe.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
