I have mentioned in a previous message about Community and Oral Health being at the forefront of Green Metro North initiatives with the rollout of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems at our sites at the end of the year.<\/h4>\n

Recently, I joined our gardening, BEMS and Green Metro North teams to view the new \u2018Mean Green Machine\u2019 at Brighton Health Campus.<\/p>\n

To say that I am green with envy is an understatement \u2013 and, if you ask Ronnie it\u2019s the most advanced renewable mower in the state!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It includes a 2×100 watt solar panel roof, attachable electric leaf blower pack at the front of the unit and military grade Tweel wheels to stop flat tyres.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And, safety wise you can\u2019t miss the gardeners now in their bright new green machine!<\/p>\n

In addition to this, new charging stations have been installed at the Nundah Community Health Centre to compliment the rollout of extra electrical vehicles at the end of the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

RUOK celebrations<\/h2>\n

Across the directorate yesterday we held a number of important morning and afternoon teas to say RUOK and to come together.<\/p>\n

With the relaxation of restrictions, our leadership team moved around facilities to spend some relaxing time with our staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Personally, I had a most enjoyable morning tea with the team at Gannet House.<\/p>\n

Reminder \u2013 Moora View Opening<\/h2>\n

Following on from the refurbishment of the rotunda between Gannet House and Brighton Brain Injury Service earlier in the year, a dedicated team from across the community have volunteered their time to create a native healing garden.<\/p>\n

I want to call out the great work and commitment of Michelle Crawford to this initiative.<\/p>\n

Please take the time to acknowledge the great work by being part of the Moora View Healing Garden Opening this Tuesday from 3.00 pm.<\/p>\n

Great compliment \u2013 Brighton Brain Injury Service<\/h2>\n

“My brother was recently transferred to Brighton Brain Injury Service after suffering a severe traumatic Brian injury 10 weeks ago and spending eight of those in RBWH.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Since transferring to this awesome facility he has improved a lot in a short amount of time. This I believe is due to the care and commitment to his rehabilitation by the staff at BBIS.<\/em><\/p>\n

“From the moment my brother entered and my sister-in-law and I walked through the doors we have experienced nothing but smiling faces and dedication to care.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Kath (social worker) is a gem!! She\u2019s caring and knowledgeable in all the areas of help that anyone experiencing this kind of trauma would need and does it all with a smile and gentleness that is refreshing and very much appreciated.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Every staff member we have encountered has been lovely and welcoming and has made the future look encouraging.\u00a0It has been a long road since my brother’s injury and it has been hard … but we know he\u2019s in a wonderful place to do his rehabilitation journey. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”<\/em><\/p>\n
