Community and Oral Health was proud to host two enjoyable and significant events yesterday.<\/h4>\n

I joined the Elders, executive and staff in the Brighton Auditorium for the Metro North Health Equity Strategy – Implementation Phase Community Consultation.<\/p>\n

We then progressed to the rotunda between Gannet House and BBIS where we celebrated and acknowledged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people\u2019s connection to Country by opening the Moora View Healing Garden.<\/p>\n

This garden is a welcoming space and the achievement of many hard-working people, led by Michelle Crawford, the Nurse Unit manager of Brighton Brain Injury Service.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>The completion of this garden shows how together we can achieve great outcomes and health equity for our patients, residents and the broader community.<\/p>\n

Fulfilling a wish \u2013 Ambulance Wish Queensland<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>Our Community Palliative Care Service has partnered with Ambulance Wish Queensland to deliver our first ever patient wish.<\/p>\n

A big thank you to everyone who helped fulfill Ross\u2019s wish which was to have his mum Eileen transported to see him at his home.<\/p>\n

It was a moment to remember as mother and son were reunited, since they had not been able to embrace for nine months due to the need for specialist transport to see each other.<\/p>\n

New Child Protection training now live<\/h2>\n

As indicated in this week\u2019s Metro North Executive message, Metro North has just launched a revised online child protection training program called Supporting all Families Everyday (SaFE) V2\u00a0<\/em>which is\u00a0<\/em>mandatory for all staff to complete.<\/p>\n

The updated SaFE V2 training program, which replaces the original SaFE training, provides staff with the vital tools to recognise risk factors for abuse and neglect, and respond appropriately to any suspicions that a child is in need of protection.<\/p>\n

SaFE V2 acknowledges that child protection is everybody\u2019s responsibility and we each play a part in contributing to a child safe organisation. Staff are required to complete one of the program\u2019s three modules \u2013 non-clinical, clinical and clinical (high risk child protection areas) according to their role and place of employment (please refer to the Managers Guide below).<\/p>\n

SaFE V2 is now available on TMS and I encourage staff to log in and complete this important training as soon as you can.<\/p>\n
