The technology is also being used for other procedures such as providing patients with non-invasive surfactant while they are on CPAP.<\/p>\n<p>RBWH Neonatology Registrar Shelvarngan Ravindraraj said having access to live video footage while using the laryngoscope means other clinicians can watch the procedure, providing greater teaching opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur previous technology didn\u2019t have a camera function, so now clinicians who are learning the procedure can watch the entire process,\u201d Dr Ravindraraj said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of overall development of skills, this new technology will improve the unit as a whole as we can now teach more clinicians to intubate with fewer attempts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe intubate two to three patients per week, so up to 100 patients each year will have access to more successful intubation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The RBWH Grantley Stable Neonatology Unit is the proud owner of two new video laryngoscopes thanks to a successful funding grant from the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":53,"featured_media":10152,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_searchwp_excluded":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[176],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9719","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-at-the-royal"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.2 -
