Angie Dobbrick, Executive Director, Caboolture, Kilcoy & Woodford Clinical Directorate<\/p><\/div>\n

While this year has been a challenging one for so many reasons, it has also been inspiring and uplifting.<\/h4>\n

I am reminded of a line in a song from the musical Rent: 525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear, 525,600 minutes – how do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee, in inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.\u2019<\/p>\n

Imagine if we measured our year working together at CKW in compassionate moments, in laughter, in tears, in care given, in conversations had, in so many ways every day.<\/p>\n

We have many reasons to be extremely proud of what we\u2019ve achieved and what we will achieve, more moments than minutes in a year, that\u2019s for sure!<\/p>\n

On Thursday (27 October), we will celebrate some of those moments at the 2022 CKW Caring Together Staff Excellence Awards event. This year it will be held in the Caboolture Hospital Lecture Theatre, from 10.30am to 11.30am, sponsored again by QSuper.<\/p>\n

The awards will celebrate individuals and teams across our facilities, services and streams. We will recognise those who are on the frontline and those behind the scenes, highlighting the important role we all play in delivering safe compassionate care to our community.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to all the nominees and the finalists. You contribute to those moments that matter in helping us achieve our aspirations as a Directorate..<\/p>\n

The pandemic has played havoc with the awards in recent years, so I\u2019m really looking forward to coming together in the Lecture Theatre to celebrate the awards in person!<\/p>\n

Improving our newborn Bloodspot screening<\/h2>\n

It was\u00a0was great to see Metro North Women, Children and Families Clinical Stream CNC Sam Pycroft with the Caboolture Hospital maternity team this week.<\/p>\n

Sam was showcasing improvements in the Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NBS). This heel prick test of a newborn baby between 48 and 72 hours after birth can help identify the risk of several rare but serious medical conditions. Early treatment and management can greatly improve outcomes.<\/p>\n

These tests have been done regularly for many years, but Sam has vastly improved processes, data collection and guidelines to ensure it is an effective tool for clinicians and ensure we give our youngest patients the very best start to life.<\/p>\n

celebrating 20,000 passengers<\/p><\/div>\n

Red Rocket reaches significant milestone!<\/h2>\n

The Caboolture Hospital \u2018Red Rocket\u2019 reached a large milestones this week – celebrating 20,000 passengers. Roberta and Lauren were happy to be in a photo with driver Neville Davidson to help celebrate the big occasion.<\/p>\n

The eight-seater shuttle bus runs a loop service with five designated bus stops at the Main Entry, Emergency Entry, Specialist Outpatients, Community and Oral Health and Mental Health Ward 2.<\/p>\n

What a huge achievement for Neville and such a great service for our community!<\/p>\n

What a compliment!<\/h2>\n

A surgical patient sent this great compliment about a recent visit to Caboolture Hospital:<\/p>\n

“I felt like the surgeon was very open, listening and compassionate towards me and my concerns.\u00a0He explained the procedure and what may be necessary. I left feeling more confident and appreciated the care taken.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have often found in past that people treat you as though you are exaggerating and too dramatic due to your anxiousness. hen you aren’t listened to when they should have earlier creating more health complications.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis wasn\u2019t the case this time and was a very helpful change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Staff Open Day<\/h2>\n

Christmas has always been one of my favourite times of the year. We have lots of events planned across CKW to help celebrate this special time of year, including the popular annual decorations competition.<\/p>\n

I have already heard about some lovely ideas for the decorations competition theme this year \u2018A Very Community Christmas\u2019. I\u2019m always so impressed by the creativity and effort \u2013 it\u2019s all part of what makes CKW such a great place to work.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re expecting a lot of rain this weekend, so please drive safely on the roads and keep up to date with the latest warnings. You can check road conditions in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
